I''m considering the following diamond from Blue Nile for a solitaire pendant. I''m trying to keep my budget at or close to $700 for the diamond. I was hoping to get as close to half a carat with the following criteria: Ideal or Excellent cut, I color or better, SI2 clarity or better. Basically, I''d like something that has some sparkle and looks nice to the naked eye. What do you think of this diamond? Do you think it''s a good price for what I''m getting? Or do you think I could do better? Thanks in advance for your help!

Numbers look ok. I guess you''ll just have to get it and see for yourself.

Hi MyPrecious

This diamond could fit the bill or if you wanted you could go for a slightly shallower proportioned stone, these can make good pendants and could give you a slightly larger look. The trade off can be that fire or coloured light can be down some with these diamonds if you do go for a shallower proportioned stone but these can look very bright and brilliant and visually in some cases look larger for the weight.

Do you know if this diamond is eyeclean? Also it has grade setting clouds noted so you would need to check these aren't impacting performance by asking your BN rep to investigate.

Thank you, Lorelei for your helpful advice. I will check with the BN rep about the concerns you mentioned and post his responses.

I got this reply from the BN rep:

For this diamond we asked, " Is it completely eye-clean? What is the color & location of the crystals? Is the table clean? Are these inclusions visible at side view or when view face down from pavilion? Does the stone display Perfect or Good H&A pattern? Does H&A looks clean when view via H&A viewer?"

We received this answer back, "This diamond is eye clean. There is a black crystal in table which is slightly visible from pavilion. It has an almost perfect H&A pattern with only one heart that is not clean."

Any thoughts???

sounds good. clarity is less important in a pendant.

Hi Precious

That sounds fine providing that possibly seeing an inclusion from the side of the stone doesn''t bother you.

Thank you both for your helpful advice!
