Blue Nile price increase....anyone else noticed?

Hi,
i have been searching for diamonds for around past 1 month.... had made an excel chart for the diamonds i like... suddenly i noticed Blue Nile increased prices for their stones (since i had old prices noted on my excel sheet so i was able to compare). I am now waiting for prices to go down... Should i expect them to go down... i was thinking they increased because of Valentines day rush.

....here it is mentioned in the thread that Blue nile stone is for $9510 ..now after a month if u open the link to Bluenile stone given on that thread the cost has increased to $10,410...nearly 1k!!

So.... will the prices come down.... or has Bluenile increased prices for good!!

I too have been comparing Blue Nile''s prices. The diamond I had my eye on went up $600 in one week. When I was going to save a couple grand it seemed worth it to buy a "sight unseen" diamond--now, not so much.

I was just talking with Brian at BGD today and he said that diamond prices are indeed on the rise and that I bought at a very good time.

I''ll confirm the same. We''ve recently seen many clarity/color combo''s go up notably in the larger sizes and expect the same across the board. Truth is prices have been on the rise since mid last year. Only lately has the Rappaport Report even begun to reflect the changes.

Thanks...one more question on this.....looking for around 0.80 carat stone.
Any suggestions....Will the prices rise any further within coming month or will they remain same ...i ask this to check if i could give myself a month more to search or should i go ahead and buy any decent stone immediately....my budget is already stretched so even $100 would mean a lot to me.

Impossible to accurately predict future pricing, but current pricing of rough and resulting polished cannot be maintained. Rough diamonds are getting top-prices, and either these go down soon, or prices of polished go up. Maybe, a combination of both movements will lead to a new equilibrium, but I would certainly expect overall price-increases this year in dollar-terms.
