Blue Sapphire Reset Completed :-)

That is a beautiful BLUE!!! Sapphire looks gorgeous in that setting!! Your jeweler did an excellent job! Looks like the setting was made for that sapphire! I love the detailing of the setting too! ..and the diamonds  Its a beauty Chrono!! :appl: :appl:

Very pretty. The color of your sapphire is amazing.

kgizo, Laila, Stargurl, Zestfullybling, and Marcy,
Thank you for the compliments. Based on this one project, it is likely I will use this jeweller again.

Late to the party, but I'm sure you're not surprised to know that I think its gorgeous. I love the setting. I love the stone. The completed ring is just lovely. Now the truth is in the pudding: we'll have to see how much you wear this one, but I for one think it should be very often!

I was catching up on threads and ran across this. So stunning! Love the intricate detail, and LOVE the stone.

Egad that is gorgeous! If that's not ideal lighting conditions for your sapphire, I'd love to see what ideal ones are! Wowza! Also, I think that setting is awesome. You are right to point out the "gentle curve" of the shoulders. They really make the ring. I'd love to see before and after pics of the previous setting and of this setting before the alterations.

Thanks Minou and Jereni. I've already worn this ring on several ocassions and know it'll be taken out of the vault more frequently.
Vel, I'm on the road today but later tonight, I'll post pictures of the old setting for comparison and the new setting prior to its customization. Actually, the new setting looks no different but needs to be altered because it was at least 1 mm too small for the sapphire. The bench cut the basket open into 2, extended the wire basket and made other necessary changes to make it look untouched, yet fit a larger stone.

Very nice re-set! Funny how it looks both larger and cushion-y in the new setting.

that sapphire looks nice but IMO its a bit small , would be hard to notice unless I am the one wearing it.

Actually, that IS the intent. This ring is something I can wear safely without fear of being noticed when I'm traveling alone. My other rings are much too noticeable, taking up almost my entire finger. This way, it is for my personal pleasure.

Chrono, the color is amazing. I adore the setting, too. Makes me want some blue!

Gorgeous stone & I love the setting too! I'm a sucker for the deco details. Well done!

if it floats your boat chrono its ok. I was just saying i could not personally wear a stone that size unless its was a sidestone
Its great to see what the lower end budgets can produce especially with your talent chrono. one day you will get a larger stone of that quality i am sure !!!

Gotcha! I have little interest in blue sapphires and am highly unlikely to get another one, regardless of size. Spinels are my thing. What happened is that I bought the setting first because I love Art Deco settings. My next problem, if one can call it that, is to find a stone that is era appropriate and fits the setting. This is the case of reverse stone hunting. Blue felt right and sapphires were very commonplace for that time period. Next, I needed something round and 6 mm. After looking around for a few weeks, this one popped up and the rest, as they say, is history.

Wow, I did not expect this thread to be resurrected. Brightspot and DerbyGal, thank you for such sweet compliments.

Absolutely stunning color. And I love the delicate setting. I can only imagine how it sparkles in real life.
