When the price is lowered, it ends up being a better purchase, so I can understand why you went for it. Taste is personal and subjective. We try to share the best advice and information so that posters can make an educated decision. In this case, you weighed the pros and cons and decided it's the one for you. :))

Thanks katharath...it was a major purchase for me so I was glad that folks here gave me reason to think hard before buying. But I figured that if I still loved it when others didn't so much, it was right for me :)

I've come late to this thread but I've got to say that I would have said that I loved it, love the cut of the sapphire AND love the setting and it looks beautiful on your hand - I think for the price it's excellent. In terms of a small concern, I would definitely get a lab report that looked at diffusion. If the stone is quite clean then diffusion can't be ruled out. If it's heat only (not diffused) then you've definitely got a bargain. Enjoy wearing your wonderful ring.

Re: Blue sapphire ring..forget about it, put on hold or wait

Thanks for all the kind words. I do value all the thoughts and opinions from all sides.

The reason I kept going back and forth on it (and I eventually posted) was largely price - I've only paid that much for a ring once. So I wouldn't have even considered it if I didn't love it. While I know what I like, I'm still a novice at judging what makes one stone more valuable than the next :wall: As much as I try to educate myself and stare at tone vs saturation charts on the computer, I lack the eye others seem to have here...especially all the variations of blue sapphires. While I knew a lot of the value was in the setting, I still wanted to make sure the sapphire wasn't one I'd regret buying. So the price drop and lack of negative comments on the stone itself, clinched it. So thank you all.

While I only asked for a gem brief, AGL assured me over the phone that it was basic heat only and that meant no diffusion or BE heating (taking advice from here, I made sure to ask specifically when they called...in fact, they must've thought I was nuts since I must've asked three times to make sure).

(Yes Acinom, my jeweler sized it for free when I bought it...but no picture as I don't have the ring back from AGL yet).
