The last vendor - easy to deal with?

Luc Yen spinel is difficult to buy here - extremely expensive or only tiny stones....

I think that's the case in the United States as well. So far, Chrono, and one other person I know, have sizable Luc Yens (one over 2 carats). Anything above 1 carat is hard enough to find as it is. Only Brad (gemtrader.com) gets them in from time to time around 1 to 2 carats, and Jeff Davies gets only tiny ones. I'm unsure where the major stones go.

That's why I jumped on mine when Brad found it - I was like "Um YES YES YES I want a 3.12 carat Luc Yen spinel" lol

Well done Michelez - no, I am not jealous!!!

I know that the material is often highly fractured. The vendor who offers the tiny Cobalt spinel offers a lot of Luc Yen - but not with a really nice color...

it always hard to find big spinel from burma and vietnam especially after cartel was formed. Most of the big stone were sold to chinese. This is the only high quality spinel I have ever seen in this year.

I know it is not 100% red hue, but this spinel almost has everything. it only shift a little bit under certain light.

That's impressive!

you will not believe how much money those chinese gem collectors have. I imagine that most of them are depressed everyday because they have no idea what to do with their money :naughty:

I want to know how Yavorskky gets them all. He seems to have the world's supply of fine and enormous spinels.

I should visit Basel.....

am not sure we are talking about the same yavorskky, but most of spinel from yavorskky that I know are rather have stronger pink hue than red, but they are huge! most of them are 10ct+, but the most interesting stone in their collection is green-purple color change sapphire.
