Blue Zircon

What a cutie fat pear but note that the setting has to be customized to fit. From what I've read of others' experience, the stone looks better in the pictures and video than in person.

Hi myak, there is a nice zircon ring just listed in eBay.co.UK by vanilla-Skye.
It's 18ct and platinum with a zircon in a diamond halo

Not sure what style you want though.....

I am on my phone and don't know how to attach a link, sorry

Mayk if the eBay uk one is any good to you and you need help to get it to you in happy to get involved, I owe you a favour or two! :)

Love all of these pretty blues. Chrono, that is one amazing stone!!!!!!! :lickout:

Is this the ring you were talking about nottospec? It is really pretty but it doesn't say how big the zircon is anywhere does it? I couldn't see.

i just reread the listing and you are right, there doesn't appear to be any weights or measurements. If Mayk likes it, maybe she can send them a message

I love blue zircons. I received one this Christmas from my hubby and love the way it sparkles. The antique shop had a matching brooch I am hoping firstly to get ( :naughty: :naughty: ) and then to turn into a pendant . On the look out now for some earrings. It really is a gorgeous gem.

Jeff is a dealer. He has a precision cutter working for him. His stones tend to be darker in real life than they are in pictures. I wouldn't say "worse" though.

Also, concave cutting doesn't mean more expensive. It's the quality of rough that really sets the price. Cutting either enhances the beauty or makes it passable as a cut gemstone. Concave is just another way to cut a stone, instead of flat faceting.

I tend to not like concave cutting, as it reminds me of the cheap man made gems put in high school and college class rings.

The UK ring is nice... I will try and find the listing...

Thanks for the info...and continued education! :read:

I found another UK ring, seller idawise. Very nice style, the stone experts can advise stone quality
If someone could post the link for OP that would be great

Also, is it possible to post links with iPhones?

Saw this one on Etsy too. I like the color.

Yeah, that is beautiful too

Prima Gems sells zircons. You have to be very specific about what you want and I'd advise not buying gems from their website as those tend not to be the best that they have in stock.

If I had the cash lying around I'd scoop up that solitaire immediately. That has my name written all over it. Sigh…

I asked the seller if she would provide us with details. She hasn't yet amended her listing,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FINE-ART-DE...-PLATINUM-ENGLISH-ANTIQUE-RING-/271362796714?
but she replied by saying that the zircon itself is approximately 8 mm & she estimates it to be 2.5 carats; no info about the diamonds (I'd asked about those too).

That is such a pretty ring. Hope you buy it! :cheeky:

Thanks for posting my ring pregcurious! Unfortunately I won't be much help as I bought my zircon off an antique brooch on ruby lane. My favorite are the tones like mine, kinda a tinge of green in it.

I had a look at the selling antiques stone again... Is there a culet? May be an OEC???? It's 9 ct too

OP - have you looked at Litnon? Though perhaps larger than you're looking for, and more cushion-y in shape, I do think this Blue Zircon has great color and quite decent pricing - perhaps worth a look-see in person to see if the color, cut and performance measure up to your expectations? http://www.litnon.com/index.php?page=viewgem&id=8877

I noticed that too. It also has abraded facets if you use the zoom on the second to last photo - so would need a repolish. No indicator of age mind, just that it was worn a fair bit.

The Litnon one is gorgeous!

That's beautiful! And a nice price.

I love the solitaire too. I do think it would need to be polished.

I'm still researching not sure what I want..all the ideas are great! I haven't settled on a shade yet either. I like the stones with more green. When I showed DH some he liked the bluer stones. I was thinking smaller but the 9ct started swaying me... I'm all over the board so to speak.

Nice find Neil.. that looks like a screaming deal... for the right person... I'm a little intimated about buying from AUS.... dealing with the whole customs thing..

Just a note... did you notice in the bottom of the stone all the fibers in the picture when you blow it up.. odd that they would remove it for pictures...
