Booked for Hong Kong, Macau and China Mainland!

Fiance and I recently booked our tickets for a mid-June, 10 day stay in Hong Kong, Macau and China mainland. It is actually a business trip for him, but we couldn''t help but mix in some fun! We will land in HK and spend our first night with a couple the same age as us, his good friends from high school. We''ll all depart for Macau over the weekend and FI will head for China mainland for his business for two days. We''ll end with our last few days in Hong Kong.

Luckily, the friends we are staying with are local and will help with the particulars of traveling between cities/countries and will have some suggestions for meals as well. They have a home in Kowloon and a private residence in Macau as well.

I would love some suggestions on great cuisine and most importantly, with shopping! I don''t necessarily want to shop at stores that I have access to in the states (I''ll be in Vegas in the beginning of June so I''ll definitely get my designer fix

) I''d rather look for local fashions and stuff I can''t get my hands on anywhere else!

Finally, while fiance is gone to China mainland, I am thinking of staying back with his friends and enjoying Hong Kong. I''m sure they will be busy with work and their regular lives during the weekdays-any suggestions on what to do if I venture out alone? If it helps, I''m 24 and this will be my first time in the region.

From what I have heard Shenzen is the place to shop for a bargain.

aaahh....beautiful HK, my place of birth. haven''t been back since 1982.ask your friends for shopping advise and watch out for FAKES!!!

We are headed to US and then Europe still have to book but we will get there ) but as his bro and niece, nephew and SIL are in HK we definitely have to make a stop there to visit it will most likely only be a 3 day visit on the way there and on the way back.

I would love to hear about your trip when you get back it sounds like an awesome place, apparently the Disney there is fantastic as well .

If I can touch it is real

Most of the stuff is fake but it is not to shabby some of the bags actually use the genuine fabrics so the quality is not always to shoddy .

I adore HK - it''s a great city.

If you were heading to mainland China, Shanghai is great, but I didn''t like a lot of the other places on the East Coast. I haven''t been to the Southwest, but I''ve heard it''s very beautiful.

Uh-oh! I will certainly beware, I''ve learned to only by designer goods from their actual showrooms (or at an authorized retailer). The copies are so spot on these days, its really hard to tell!

Pandora-Good tips!! We will be in the southwestern area, so I hope to see some nice sites! My FI just mentioned the possibility of extending our stay. I told him I wouldn''t be bothered one bit if we had to!
