I am considering a tennis bracelet. The standard length is 7 inches. My wrist measures 5.7-5.9", but I do not know exactly, because the measuring string may stretch a bit. I read somewhere that the correct bracelet length should be 0.75"-1" more than one''s wrist length. Thus, I thought 6.5" would do. Later I read somewhere in PS that someone preferred 2 inches longer, and I got confused. Then I started making bracelets out of thin paper and tried to "feel" which length would be best for me.

The attached photo shows three different lengths: 6.5", 6.7", and 7". Although I feel 6.7" may be the best, the other two lengths are also considered acceptable (or soemtimes preferred) by others. Before I finalize my bracelet length, I want to find out what most people prefer, tight fit (0.5-0.6" margin), a little slack (about 0.8-1.0" margin), or lots of slack (1.1-1.3" margin or more)? Wonder if the answers may help me see a different light?

The third choice should read "7.0 inches"
If you think all 3 lenghts are acceptable, plase let me know. Thanks.

I voted for 7 inches.

I voted 6.5 cause a gold bracelet will extend if you wear it every day.

I vote for 6.75. All of my bracelets are about 6.5" custom and it hits wear your 6.7 looks on your wrist. Do you currently have any bracelets now? if not, how bout buying some cheapy bracelets from the mall that have links and cut them off to find your "favorite, comfy look"? that way it won't be a mistake when time to get the real deal. Because I'm petite in a lot of area, I find that I the majority of the time, have to customize everything... (even fashion belts... had to cut links off so its not so long...lol)

I think 6.7" looks best on you - it looks comfortable and not too loose.

Yep, me too.

Good Morning FancyDiamond.

I voted for 6.5.

I was given a diamond tennis bracelet for my 40th in December 2009.

My wrist measures approx 5.8/5.9, so very similar to yours.

Whilst looking for "the one", I tried on the 7 inch bracelets and found that they looked way too long on me. However it did depend on the style, the carat weight and obviously there is also a huge element of personal preference!

I found the bigger the carat weight the more the bracelet fitted (much to my husbands panic lol) and I assume that that was due to a wider circumference and more gold weight in the bracelet.

As well as having a small wrist I also have small hands. The reason I add that is my best friend has a very similar wrist size to me but a larger hand and as such she can wear a standard length without it being an issue. On myself a standard length always feels like it as too much hang and therefore I am scared that I will either pull and damage the bracelet or it may fall off. I therefore either buy standard length and have it reduced or get it custom made. (which I have struggled to do here in the Uk without it becoming cost prohibitive)

I am in the Uk so choice is probably not what it is where you are. In the end I chose a small bracelet with great stones, F/VS1 ( I am in the Uk remember and it was pre pricescope!!!) and it is approx 3.4 carats. It was made to the standard 7 and I had it reduced buy my own jeweller by 5 stones/links resulting in a 6.5 length. The reason for that is whole different story!!!

Good luck with your search, I hope you find one that you love. I will follow your search with great interest.

For me I would say whichever of 6.5 and 6.7 you think feels the best. The 7 looks way too large for me. I have child sized hands and wrists and am a smidge smaller than you. I prefer a 6.5 when I can find it.

I like them a little longer, so they drape more on the wrist. I don''t know what length mine is, but it''s long enough that it (just) won''t come off my hand without undoing the catch. I like bangles a bit smaller, bracelets a little bigger.
