Hello, all! I usually lurk, but am planning to have a custom ring made and would love input! I first searched for a preloved target ring, but decided it might be more fun to design one because I felt that although I loved to halo, the shank portion always is so predictable! I was trying to imagine how I might update the style to be a little more unique or perhaps modern instead of just copying to same old shoulder/shank design that these rings all seem to have. I already have a Tacori ring (the hound halo dantela) and I like the style of modernizing a vintage look, if that makes sense. However, I do not want to copy the Tacori styles. Please help me brainstorm. I will attach all my inspiration photos! The first is a little different, but the others have that predictable shank style.

P. S. When my fiancé proposed, we had no money and he gave me an old ring with a tiny diamond that his mother had actually found a long time ago. I think it would be so cool to somehow incorporate the tiny stone in the new ring. Any recommendations on who is best for the job? Thanks in advance! 12133-TV.jpg0bd87bafbf43b22fecba2805c3841581.jpgil_1140xN.2283384189_1e5i.jpgScreen Shot 2020-06-22 at 3.33.05 PM.pngil_794xN.870629728_hz09.jpgScreen Shot 2020-06-22 at 3.35.17 PM.png

These are different:

Oh, thank you! They are! And very pretty. However, I think I want to keep the blue halo and reinvent the shank, if that makes sense.

What carat size and cut is the center stone? Do you want a delicate look or a more substantial look on the shank? Do you want diamonds or no diamonds? Do you like medium or low set? If you like side stones, any particular cut? OEC, French cuts, baguette? Answers to any of these questions can help people focus.
Really the shank of a target ring can take on any style. If you want the whole ring to stay true to the Art Deco period that would help to know. Are you set on sapphires as your halo stones?

The profile and basket are a little more modern on this with a shank that references Art Deco but not too closely.

This Basket is a bit more elaborate but gorgeous.

just look at a lot more of the profiles of his settings.

Here is a target style ring I have, the shank has small melee and weaves into the elaborate gallery. Ruby with a small colorless OEC. Good luck!

Fun target!

... simple shanks are simply practical, but would love to have the same line of sapphires go around the main stone & down the sides too.
