NO, I could never actually wear my rings like that. I couldn''t even close my fingers down. Too much bling is not always a good thing.

the profile is perfection! :)

WOW butterfly what a stunning ring!! Really makes me want a 5 stone SO BAD! Just love the setting and adore the hidden stone and your initials and wedding date how sweet and perfect!

SO, any ideas yet on what form your reset may take????? Keep us posted I know I am dying to know and see the final outcome

Again your ring is just gorgeous! Congrats! Looks wonderful on your hand and you have an AWESOME collection!

Wow Butterfly, Your new anniversary 5 stone is Beautiful! Congratulations on your 17th Anniversary!

Question: I remember you were pretty color-sensitive years ago, and like your diamonds in the E-F-G range....how do you feel now? Do you love the warmer colors now? Would you wear your various bands together like you did for this photoshoot knowing that the diamond colors don''t really match?
The band that I currently wear has the same stats as your Tiffany Shared-prong, and I wanted to upgrade my solitaire to a 2+ct, but can only realistically achieve that size if I went for a "H" color or lower. Do you think the color difference would be obvious given the size, and and also pairing it with the "F" color band?

Thanks everyone.

btrflygrl23,
I really have no idea what I want. I go from wanting something split prong like a Leon Mege special and then I go back to wanting a cushion shaped halo like LVdoll''s setting.

I am waiting for luv2sparkle''s reset to see how that turns out. I need inspiration.

Right now I am leaning on having LM or BGD make me a setting, but I won''t get anything right now since I just got this ring and a new RC butterfly pendant. I should post the pendant too!

Hi Jaysonsmom,

I don''t think I was color sensitive as opposed to just picking what I thought my husband''s family would like and not what I liked.
His family is all about the colorless stones (we''re asian and I notice alot of asian cultures want as close to colorless and flawless as possible) and they were always talking about so and so''s D/E/F color stone, so not knowing any better, I thought that''s what I was supposed to get.

I know I don''t like to see a lot of tint, so if given the opportunity to get a J in a big diamond, I know I would not do that. When I upgraded last year there was a 3 carat J that I could have easily upgraded to, but I went with a smaller H instead because I knew the color would bug me. I know some people don''t mind J''s but they are just not mind clean enough for me.

I think for smaller diamonds H/I is fine, I originally wanted H SI1 stones for this ring, but I spoke to Leslie and she told me that she had a perfectly matched set (IVS2s and .35 each), yet I was still hesitant because of the I color.

I kept asking Leslie are you sure the I''s will not show color and she kept reassuring me that they would not. I even made her send me a picture of a recent five stone ring with .34 carat diamonds that were IVS2s on Brian''s size 9 finger, just to show me that I would not see color. The pictures she sent showed the diamonds to be very white, but again, they are smaller stones and color shows up more the larger the diamond.

They did have 3 HSI1s that were .33s , but I would then have to get 2 ISI1s to make this ring and I figured if I was going to be getting a few Is anyway, I may as well get the bigger diamonds with better clarity.

Plus, this was for my 17th anniversary, so I was happy to see that all the IVS2 stones have the number 17 in their certs., so it just seemed right to me.

I would not wear all the diamond rings like the way I did in my photo shoot, but I don''t really notice the color except when compared to the tiffany shared prong. Again, it is so minimal, but I have eagle eyes, so I do notice a very slight difference. By itself, I don''t notice at all.

I am also so picky that if the color really bothered me, I would just return the ring for H''s instead.

I don''t think you will notice the color between your F color band and a 2+ carat H. If you look at my upgrade thread, you can see that I posted it with the Tiffany band and there is no color difference. Also, if you look at the pictures of my e-ring with the wedding band, you don''t notice color difference and the diamonds in the set are F/G color.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Butterfly. I'm will have to hunt down your threads to see the different color comparisons between your H centerstone and all the bands! I asked this question because I did notice the color difference between your new band and your Tiffany. That was fairly easy for me to pick out, even on a computer monitor. I went to a Tiffany store with a friend of mine once, and I could easily pick up a ring, and tell her what color the diamond was without looking at the tag, she could not tell, and neither could the salesperson (without looking at the tag), so I think I have color sensitivity
8.gif
, and I'm afraid going lower in color to get the upgrade size I want would not make me happy. Dh suggested that I wait a year or so to upgrade to a 2+ "D-E-F" that's I'd be happy with forever so that I wouldn't have to sacrifice size or color.

I wanted to add: Your new ring is SO sparkly and beautiful, I wouldn't wear it with anything else any way, the stones are substantial enough for a stand-alone RHR! That way you can see the trellis better too.

I don''t know, a 2 carat F goes for around $40+k, so it might be hard to get. I know I would not be able to afford one, lol.

I think you may be more color sensitive than me, but honestly, when I first got my 2.4 HVS2, I could see a hint of color too. But 99% of the time, it looks white.

On a side note, I did have a 2.03 G VS1 that I traded up for the larger HVS2 and can you believe that the diamond I returned turned out to be an F? When WF restocked the diamond, they were selling it for something like $43K or more ( FVS1 price) , I can''t remember the exact price. I can''t believe I was wearing an F the whole time!

Had I known I would end up with an H anyway, I would of bought a 3 carat H to begin with. The price I paid for my 2.4 HVS2 was the price of a 3 carat HVS2 back then...

Gorgeous new ring - the stones are a nice size on you and quite beautiful! Congrats to you and your hubby on your 17th anniversary.

Jaysonsmom,
I just looked at my upgrade thread and I do notice the difference between my tiffany shared prong and the H solitaire, but not with the diamonds in the actual setting or wedding band. LOL, I guess I may be as color sensitive as you after all!

But, I really do not notice it at all in real life. I think because the pictures are so close up you can see it better, but in real life all you see are flashes and sparkle, so it's not so noticeable.

I think that you have to decide what you want and what you are willing to sacrifice. When I first got the H, I was a little hesitant if I should keep it or not. I remember emailing mssalvo and telling her the diamond looked more tinted than my other H (which had faint fluor.). I also think that superideal cut diamonds pick up surrounding colors more. If you look at the first picture that I posted of the five stone band with the Tiffany shared prong (the one with flash on page one), you can see the difference in the cut. The BGD stones are picking up color like crazy and are super sparkly, whereas the Tiffany band looks whiter, but deader and not nearly as flashy.

I can tell you that when I wear my H, I get a lot of compliments and I went to a NICU conference last nite and wore both my e-ring set and the five stone and all you saw was bling. I was even embarassed bc everyone was noticing my new ring.

ETA: I know you have a few diamond rings. Would you be willing to trade in one of your diamonds to get the higher color? Also, what are your thoughts about the clarity.
I am more of a clarity nut than a color nut for sure.

Just wanted to thank everyone again!

Gorgeous! When you get a chance post some more pics please! Especially from a distance and of the profile!

Tx!!

Butterfly17, Jaysonsmom, I hope you don't mind my butting in
2.gif
1.gif
. I've recently discovered or rather reconfirmed to myself that I'm very colour sensitive (see my new thread on RT). I think that if you can wait until later on when you can afford it, Jaysonsmon, then I'd do that and get something in the higher colour range. BUT, Butterfly made a very good point about prices having gone up. This is esp true with larger stones. I heard it from a very reliable source
2.gif
that prices, having recently gone up, are going up again in August and it's going to be a prety sizeable increase. So, I want to ask you: does your vendor have an upgrade policy? If so, I'd upgrade now to an H and then upgrade again to a larger stone if you're still so inclined then, otherwise you might get priced out altogether (just like I have with my RB solitaire
4.gif
).

Love it, butterfly!!! Totally gorgeous!!!! Enjoy it, and happy anniversary!!!!
