Brian Gavin re-cut and milgrain bezel pendant redesign!

DS, I think it's fantastic! I'm so glad you went with the simple bezel pendant and that the milgrain turned out to work too! It really is so classic and a special heirloom with the recut diamond to boot!!
 
It is GORGEOUS, Diamondseeker!! :love: :love: :love: The milgrain is *just* perfect!! :appl: and the diamond so firey and white!! :appl: Brian did good. Count me in as another person who wants to see the before and after pics.

How lovely that you have a diamond from your mom to treasure and to pass onto one of your daughters as an heirloom for many years to come.

No, the clarity didn't improve with the recut. It was either VVS1 or VVS2 at the start, so he didn't have to work around inclusions, thankfully!

:lol: Well, yes! The black knit t-shirt is typical of what I really wear most of the time. I wanted to take some with an open neck shirt to show how the length worked, but the ones I initially took with the navy print shirt didn't turn out. So when luv2sparkle asked for a distance shot, I grabbed a different shirt! So that is the tale of how I have three different shirts on! :bigsmile:

I'm glad you like the size! I have a little tiny bit of DSS. However, I will say that the milgrain bezel is so subtle that it almost just adds to the size of the stone. So I'd really say it makes it look closer to a carat.

As far as the chain goes, I usually like 18", but I decided I'd like a solitaire pendant a little shorter so I went with 17".
 
I think the pendant is absolutely beautiful (!), I LOVE the milgraining, and I agree with some of the ladies in that it looks bigger on your neck than .80 points to me. I'd love to know how the stone improved with recutting if you have the before and after specs.

DS, I L.O.V.E. it! I think that's a delightful size - it looks wonderfully huge on you, and I think that chain length emphasizes both the size of the stone and your pretty neck perfectly! I would also love to see the recut details - there's something so cool about the "before" and "after" deets!

I really like it - I think the size is perfect for a pendant! I love what you did with the back of the pendant - such a great idea!

Isn't it interesting that it's hard to tell it apart from the h&a stone? We've had these numbers drilled into us for so long but clearly those stones that miss the mark are amazing as well!

DS, your new pendant is gorgeous! It looks great on you. I like your redesign of the back of the Barbara pendant--very classic and sleek--and the milgrain looks perfect.
 
Pretty, pretty pretty! I never would have thought to tweak the back , but, it looks good! The milgrain is perfect,now I really want to send mine back for milgraining!! :naughty:

It's gorgeous and I agree with everyone else-it looks HUGE on you! The milgrain is great, too! I have the regular Barbara pendant with a .5 and I love it-mine never flips! Wear it in good health!

Now to answer a few questions or comments...

MGR...YES, there are beautiful diamonds outside our typical 34-35 ca and 40.6-41.0 pa!!! I still will refer people to those "sure" numbers, but honestly and truly, I cannot say that this new stone is not equally pretty as my H&A stones....because it IS!

Izumi...I didn't ask the mm of the chain but 1mm sounds about right! My Roberto Coin pendant has a thinner chain, so I like this one better. It is a cable and I decided on 17" since a solitaire pendant is often worn a little shorter than other pendants. The good thing is, I can change chains at any time if I want since the chain is not fixed!

Elisa...oh, yes, I strongly recommend adding the milgrain! I can't imagine how pretty the milgrain would be on rose gold! I'd like another one so I could have a rose gold one, too! :bigsmile:

Maisie...hey!!! Good to see you!!! I am not 100% sure, but I think Brian had his factory cut it. I think I just assumed that so I didn't actually even ask! I give him the credit, though, because he plans the recuts and monitors their progress.

I went and had the pendant appraised for insurance today and the jeweler was impressed with the setting! I told him when I return to pick up a resized ring I will bring him the before and after pictures of the diamond and I think he'll be impressed with that, too!

I went to visit my mother the last couple of days and she loved the pendant! No one outside if PS really understands having a diamond re-cut, however, because I don't think they have ever heard of it! :lol:
