Brian Gavin rounds...21K budget.what would you pick?

Good morning!

I met with Brian yesterday to look at 2+ carat round diamonds for my ering. He had great diamonds, but as a novice, I am so confused on getting the best diamond for my 21K budget for the loose diamond. Would there be a certain diamond that you would pick? Also, had anyone ordered and been thrilled with an "everything else" round diamond from BGD? I want an ering with a cushion cut halo Leon Mege like micropave.

Are you speaking of a called in, virtual stone? I would never do that through BG. I'd go to him because I want one of his specialty cut hearts and arrows stones. Same with WhiteFlash.

I'll look and see what he has.

Okay, well I am not seeing any BG Signature or Blue stones that are $21k or less although I didn't look below SI1. I see one at WhiteFlash:

You would never call in a virtual stone with BG? Who would you recommend? Would you recommend Whiteflash and have micropave work done at WhiteFlash as well?

For looking at virtual stones from diamond suppliers, NY vendors can just go pick up stones since many are in NYC. You avoid all the shipping charges. My personal choice for the setting you want would be Victor Canera or Steven Kirsch and I think those settings run between $4-5k. Both Steven and Victor will source diamonds and you might consider that option as well. I know Victor does idealscope images, although he is in CA and not NYC.

On the other hand, you could buy the WF stone and have it shipped to either one. WF does make some very nice settings, but for the setting you want, the best, in my opinion are Victor and Steven (in the US).

BGD hasn't gotten a new shipment of signature diamonds (blues or H&A) in a month so they should be getting new ones in soon. I would call and ask them. With your budget, I think you could probably get a ~2ct diamond there if you go for one of the I/J/K colors. You can get bigger + higher colors at JA and other vendors, but they won't be H&A.
