So! I have a dress (see "HELP!..." topic.
And I have a date, June 30,2007.
And a formal, religious church ceremony. And semi-formal reception on the grounds of the Blount-Bridgers House in Tarboro, NC (google it, it''s gorgeous).

This week we''ll decide what time of day to have the reception (probably 7 so its light but cooler).

Here''s the thing: I''m having 6 bridesmaids, all of very different body types. I think I found a dress that will be fairly easy to fit them all into. I tried it on, one BM tried it on, the rest are spread all over the country. So, does this work? It has a slit in the back for air vent and also so they can walk easily. The color has got a bit more green than the picture shows. How do yall feel? BE HONEST. Thanks!

I think it''s really cute!

Just my personal opinion, but I'm not a fan. I don't actually think it'll work for some body types. Gathered v-necks, IMO, look best on B-C cups. A cups won't look terribly good next to a C in that, and a D or DD will look a bit too...

Also a horizontal band across the ribcage will not look all that great on plumper women and probably wouldn't be terribly comfortable either. IMHO, a scoop neck with a princess/A line dress is probably the most versatile.

Love the color though! You could always do the thing where the dress has to be a certain color, and fit within certain parameters, but let the BM's choose their exact style themselves. (i.e. That particular green, not strapless, a certain length... ect..)

ETA: basically if you've got a pyramid, pear shaped, or rectangular BM, it's not going to be terribly flattering.

i love it too. i am always hesitant with v-necks, but this one seems to show nothing! which is good. esp. for a church wedding.

are your friends plump or busty or hip-py? what sizes are they, roughly?

I dunno--that dress could work for A cups as well as Bs and Cs. My A-cup friend has a dress with a very similar cut to (V neck with the diagonal krinkles/gathers/rouching/whatever you call it), and it actually gives the allusion that she has bigger boobs than she really does. I should think it would fit everyone in the top.

My only concern is the lower half of the dress for girls with bigger hips.

What size is the BM who tried it on compaired to your other girls?

I tried it on, I''m a size 8 with 38C top, 5''6"

BM that tried it on is size 12 36C, 5''7"

Others:

Size 6-8 38C, larger torso, small hips, 5''4"
Size 4 36A, small everything, 5''3"
Size 10 36B, average proportions (similar in body type to me), 5''6"
Size 10 36A, 5''2", chest is smallest part
Either Size 14 38D 5''7" or Size 16 38A 5''6"

(keep in mind I have only officially asked the sister of the groom, who tried on with me...the others I haven''t asked yet because I''m having to pick between a couple and need to draw straws or something...that''s why the last one says EITHER. )

thanks!

The saleslady said this dress was one of the easier ones to fit on different girls...
and it''s the same price as the rest, so that wasn''t to her benefit to say...

My mom is wearing that dress in Chocolate brown for my wedding. It looks great on her. Very flattering. She is a size 12.

if that is a davids bridal dress i altered it last year for a curvy d cup friend. it looked quite nice.

I love the dress and the color! I''m thinking it wouldn''t be very flattering to someone who''s large in the hips, but your girls don''t necessarily sound like they are. I personally think it *would* be flattering on someone with a large chest. I like it!

I tried on that dress for a friend's wedding. We are picking our own styles as long as it's the expresso/chocolate color. Frankly, I hated it on me. I'm a DD and a size 18. I thought the horizontal ruching and the top part made me look bigger than I really am. It seemed like a lot of material up top for me. But all of your girls are smaller, so that probably won't be an issue.

I like it. It would look good on my body type. I''m curvy. 36D size twelve-- small waist. I think with the sizes and body types you listed it will be a good. You can also pick one designer with two piece gowns.. pick a fabric and a color and a skirt have them pick their own style tops.

what concerns me is the slim line of the dress. My MOH has very big hips, so anything not A-line was absolutley out of the question. Also the gathered waist bugs me because I have no waist so I feel like it would draw a lot of attention to that area as well.. If you found a dress with a top like that but an A-line cut and maybe minus that waistband.. it woudl be perfect..

I really like that dress!! I am considering among other options, but in pink, for my catholic wedding. I have to have my girls try it on though - they are both on the shorter side, and one is a D-cup, so I''m not so sure. I love these style dresses, mainly because they look good on me (5''8" and slender)... but I''m not wearing the dress!!

David''s is good about being all over the country, and they let you take pictures. Maybe narrow it to a few dresses, have them try them on, send you a pic and vote for their fav. Then you know if one person looks absolutely horrible in it or hates it.

Also, you can do the option of letting them pick from a selection of dresses in one color - which should be easier at Davids. That way they will still look like they can go together, but no one will be spilling out, feel uncomfortable, etc.

But I really really love the dress!!
