I want my BM''s to wear the wine color dresses from J.Crew. There are five of them. 3 vote for the silk chaffon (emily and sophia) and the other 2 like the cotton cady. Would it be ok to mix fabrics or no?

I haven''t seen the dresses, but typically, cotton is more casual than chiffon. Personally, I don''t think I would mix cotton and chiffon.

All three are very pretty! With the sheen to the cotton, it does look "dressy," but it is also "crisp" where chiffon is "flowy."

Did they just view these online or IRL? If just online, what about having them try them all on and seeing which is the most flattering?

If they don''t agree after seeing and trying... majority rules? Bride rules? IDK... they all do look dressy... but crisp cotton and flowy chiffon? not so sure. Maybe some brides here have mixed the fabrics and it turned out great and they could share some pics or something.

Here they are. The one on the left is the sophia (silk chiffon), the one in the middle is the Sarah cotton cady, and the one on the right is the Emily (silk chiffon). I personally don't see the problem with mixing materials, but I'm not a fashionista. I really like them all!!

ETA: I just looked at them again and although I still like how they all look, I do see upon second glance that the sarah cotton cady is stiffer, while the others seem a little more delicate. If I had to choose between the cotton or the chiffon, I think I'd go with the chiffon (the Sophia, to be more exact). I haven't seen these dresses in person though.

thank you guys for your input. i''m so stressed out over dresses i''m not even wearing. i can''t imagine when I start to look for my dress!!

The shades are different too. So it would be different fabric and different shades. Hmm.. I''m not too sure..

Also, both the chiffon dresses look like they have the same overlay detail at the bottom where it is sheer. That''s just another little detail that might stand out if 2 of the girls were wearing chiffon and 1 cotton. I love all 3 though...but I think I would stick with letting them choose a dress of the same material.

Yeah, I''d stick with the same fabric. All three are very pretty, simple dresses so I don''t think the bridesmaids who get outvoted will be too upset.

Honey, I'm sad to hear you're stressed already! It's really, seriously not worth stressing over.

I promise finding a dress for you will be fun if you let it be fun. The idea is to DECIDE to have fun and remember that it's going to be OK whatever happens!

OK, so take a step back and a deeeep breath! Surely your BM's have a preference, but I'm betting that they aren't THAT fussed about whether they are going to wear chiffon or cotton, so I think it's fine to just go with the majority. I also don't think it would be the end of the world if they didn't exactly match.

If you're feeling stressed about this, just remember that absolutely nothing hangs on it. I mean, nobody is going to lose a limb, or even have a smidgen less fun at your wedding, and you're still going to end up married, even if your BM's are wearing sackcloth!

The key word for enjoying wedding planning is: perspective!

BTW, great colour! And great dresses!

The world will not tilt off its access if the dresses don''t match, and your bridesmaids won''t die if they do, so just choose what works best for you and go with it.

If you want personal opinions I say let them choose what makes them happy (shades smades a big gazoont!).
