i'm late but sign me up as one who agrees that people should have to be pre-approved or licensed or something for breeding!! there are so many people out there who have kids for the absolute worst reasons or are in the absolute wrong situation to bring a child into the world. there are so many times when we are out and we see a family with a gaggle of horribly behaved children just running amok, and greg will look at me and say 'their genes are winning.'.
40.gif

at times i think well are our genes really any better? however, then i think...well the reason we don't have kids yet (or might not at all) is because we really do want to be sure we can have the best situation for the child and set ourselves up for hopeful success as parents. why don't more people put some serious thought into it? it's a kid people...not a doll you can just toss back into the toybox when you are bored. you hear that miss TG? don't be dropping the Ttot off at our house while you go gallavanting around the bayarea when you come visit. cuz yanno, we charge A LOT for babysitting!
9.gif
portia makes a great nanny.
LOL, you and Greg are as bad as TGuy and me.

As for tossing TTot into the toybox...funny you should mention that. When we bought our new car in August, my mustang was still in the shop from the DD accident. TGuy thought we should sell the mustang. I told him that we wouldn't get much for it, and it would make sense to have two cars I could drive (at the time he was still employed and we had the company truck which I was not allowed to drive.) The reason being what if I needed to go to a meeting and he had to watch the kid or something? If I took the big car with the carseat, he'd be stuck at home because you can't drive TTot in a truck when they are that little.

The real motive was my getaway...if I wanted to hang out with a friend, I needed to leave him with a driveable TTot car! 8 weeks into my pregnancy and I hadn't given a thought to anything except my escape route...

Yes, I'm terrible. But at least I'm honest.

And re: babysitting: Mara...c'mon. You'll need the practice because you're going to get preggo before you know it...because when I visit in a month I'm going to rub my preggo cooties on you. Be very afraid and enjoy the limited time you have with Greg and Portia sans mini-Mara.

I am not suprised that she''s lost her kids. Stupid girl!! Lets be honest, the whole Britney empire was going crumble sooner or later unfortunately its at the expense of 2 wee boys who''ve been caught up in the madness their parents have created.

There are several factors involved in this, the first being her parents and their pressure on the girl to become famous and the stupid decision of them and her then management to paint her as a good Christian virgin who lives her life clean and doesn''t do drugs, have sex etc etc, but her first video was all about the sex, with the image of the naughty schoolgirl, the theory and the practise were at odds with each other. She has been told what to do and been controlled by others who should have protected her and she has rebelled to the detriment of herself and now her kids.

I was watching this documentary about her and it was through the paparazzi''s eyes and they were talking about big hollywood stars and celebrities and their behaviour towards them and how it is clear when they want their photos taken etc and when they want their privacy and this photographer was saying that Britney says she wants her privacy but then teases the paps and exhibits herself to them. So they followed her, she was in her merc convertible, roof up, rather than just ignore them, like other celebs do. she stopped at the lights, put her roof down and started flirting with them, she then opened her top so give them the opportunity to get nipple shots, and it was pathetic. she wanted the attention, you could see she needed it, so she perpetuates the cycle, she doesn''t know how to stop.

The media are bigger than she is and she can''t control them like she thinks she can. She''s propably under the impression that there''s no such thing as bad press. Well she needs to get her act together now and grow up, be a woman, be a mother and get her children back. Remove herself from the media for a couple of years, bring up her children and then once she''s sorted make a comeback. Its not like she''s skint and needs the money. Otherwise, we''re going to read in a couple of months that she''s OD''ed or something.

It rips my knitting to see someone who has everything and every opportunity in life spit on it.

IT''S ABOUT TIME!

I don''t think she wanted the kids. I think she''s done everything in her power to encourage the court to rule against her. She had multiple chances to clean up her act and she rejected each and every one of them. I hope Kevin is amenable to having Lynn, her mom, involved in their care and lives. She seems like a decent woman who cares about her grandkids. She and B are not speaking because she (mom) didn''t agree with the way B was acting/not mothering the kids. I truly think she wants what''s best for them.

This is probably going to go one of two ways.

Either it will push her over the edge - or it will push her to get help.

I sincerely hope its the second choice.

The whole thing is so sad.

TGal and Musey- I''m with you. For years I''ve said why don''t people have to get a license/psych screening before being allowed to be responsible for another helpless person? Many people I''ve said that around rake me over the coals because they stand on their soapbox with the ''having children is a right blah, blah, blah'' speech. I say maybe it shouldn''t be a right for EVERYONE.

I have no sympathy for Brit. At all. Just another celebrity train wreck. They do everything they can for attention, including having accessories, sorry, children, to get more attention and to keep their name in lights.

I know someone that works in the Hollywood scene and she said the common thought is ''any press is good press if people are talking about you.'' It''s quite sad that these children have no clue what they are stuck with, that is until they start therapy.

You should not be having kids if you are:
-too dumb to realize the level of responsibility
-a crackhead
-too poor to afford them! (remember the thread a while back about the 20 year old with the third set of twins or something like that?)
I''m sure there are more kinds of people that should be on the unsavory prospective parent list.

I would love to see what would happen if there was an island somewhere where the birth control was in the tap water and when people wanted to have a baby they had to drink bottled water in order to be fertile.

crap i'd be really fertile then since that's all we drink!!! though, i do think that many times even if someone afford to drink the bottled water (or afford the kids or whatever)...doesn't mean they'd make a great parent.

that said, i have also seen people who i would have said did not make 'fit' parents beforehand but after the child was born they did a massive 180 and were totally different people who raised great children. but i think the majority of people have no idea what they are getting into. fortunately for me (and unfortunately for my parents who are dying to be gparents), my youngest sister was born when i was 16 so i got a good lot of mothering in as basically her second mom. projective vomit!? sign me up!!

TG...i think the prospect of a mini Mara might just push Greg right over the edge!

I was watching TMZ last night that basically showed the same thing. Brit was in her car with the top up, her kids were bawling. Two seconds later there she is again with the top down.

UGH. What is she doing?!?!?!

Right after I got my driver''s license, I informed my parents of my plan to create a licensing system for women to bear children. They''d have to go through a parenting equivalent of driver''s ed, a written exam, and a practical exam. Then they could have their tubes un-tied

(eek, I''m probably putting myself in the line of fire for that one... **ducks**

)
Ha...I was going to say nearly the same thing in my post, including the tubes untied thing, but I decided that was way too flammable..
Its funny, in the real world I feel very much like an outsider with my points of view. But here it is in ''black and white''. Just call me thritto!

I have noticed that it seems to be the couples who worry about being great parents and often decide not to procreate perhaps make the best parents. Its those who get broody and become pregnant, perhaps because it seems like a good time or good ideal at the time that cause worry.

Perhaps it could be said that those who choose not to have kids would have made the best parents after all. (0.02)

I hear that a good test is to ask the reason for becomming pregnant. My reason would be to create a new life that would grow up to have a happy successfu life. I can''t guarantee that for a child and don''t see the chances of that becoming any greater in the future. I asked a friend recently and she said she wanted company. Now I''m not passing judgement on her or her parenting skills. But my eyes were on stalks when I heard that.

I wonder what Britneys'' reasons were? We know she planned to get pregnant before she did - I''m sure she even wore it on a Tshirt!

I just saw this article.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21092500/
I have to say I thought it was strange that she just handed them over. Especially when she didn''t have to until Wednesday. Didn''t she go out afterwards too? She really doesn''t seem very upset about the whole thing.

I feel sad for Britney, but it is hardly shocking when the facts are examined.

Has anyone thought that Brit might be suffering from Post Natal Depression?

No doubt she''s suffering from depression. She needs help and is not seeking it...that''s what''s really sad.
