broken prongs, please help.

well, a month before i bought 3 diamond stoned 18K anniversary ring from Bangkok but after the flights i found a prong of side stone was broken. and i checked my photos when i took in bangkok at hotel after purchase and i found it was still broken. my country is far away and i was thinking to resolve the problem in my country. already passed several days and i did not wear it much, just 2-3 times and i found second one has broken :errrr:
today i just went to local jeweler and he said only the way is to buy a new setting! they do not have the ready setting for my ring and i should wait new setting. unfortunately he said the price of the new setting will around 200-300usd and about 300usd for service.
but i found from this forum that broken prongs can be fixed by laser or traditional solder. unfortunaly in my country we dnt have any experienced jeweler with a laser machine. i can find only non-experienced one who can make solder.
what can i do with this issue, please help! i am so upset with my brand new 5th anniversary ring :(sad
i feel so guilty for my husband!

Can you contact the seller of the ring and ask them to send a new setting? What are the prongs made of? It sounds like gold and not platinum. You need the prongs to be platinum because they are not brittle and rarely ever break.

Yes, i sent email to them and they asked the certificate of the ring. i just emailed the copy of the certificate. They said it's 18k white gold but when i went to local jeweler, he said it's not written 18k on the ring :knockout: I'm waiting for their reply and if it's not very successful with them i guess I'll sent it to Germany to repair with my husband :blackeye:
