Hi PSers,

So I found another diamond and would love your input on it. It's the biggest size I've come across in my budget yet (and i'm trying to get as close to 2ct as I can afford!!). Below are the specs and this retailer has a return policy. The only downside is that I would have to pay return shipping if I didn't like it in person (~$30-40) so in addition to your feedback on the stone, I'd love to know if you think it seems nice enough to be worth the return $$ risk.

Also, I'm a bit worried about the J color (i'd love some thoughts from J color holders, is it signif yellow?) Theres no way to tell from these pictures if it's a higher J (whiter) or a lower J (yellowish)? Is that something I can only see in person? and this vendor unfortunately does not have idealscope images :(

Thanks for your time and help, greatly appreciated!!

Retailer comments: The diamond has a beautiful J color and looks white. Not milky or cloudy. It has gorgeous brilliance. From about 6-8 inches, it would be difficult to see anything to the naked eye, it looks eye clean. Under the loupe there are a few tiny dark crystals under the table and a tiny one on the side.

That stone is a great size and it looks pretty good as far as the clarity goes. I do have some hesitation about what appears to be a black inclusion in the center, though. Color is very personal so only you can really decide how you feel about J color. It is too tinted for me, and I only like high I color stones (and higher). But for a girl who wants size over all other specs, I think it is reasonable to go to J color. Will they give you an idealscope image?

I had a little hesitation about the black inclusion as well, but it doesn't look like a solid spot, its sort of a small hazy dot which i thought might not be detected without a loupe. Could it affect the brilliance of the diamond though? I generally like whiter stones but i haven't seen too many J's in person and the pictures ive seen of people's J rings online weren't as yellow or tinted as I was expecting. Plus with a J, I can get the size I want and since it's an excellent cut, maybe the yellow tint won't be very noticeable?

Unfortunately they don't have an idealscope... :(

I think it is a black crystal or something. It would probably bug me but others probably wouldn't look at it closely enough to see it. I don't think it is big enough to affect the light performance of the diamond, though. I wouldn't buy it unless you can take a look at the inclusion and color and return it if you don't like it with full refund.

yes, there is a full return policy, I would just need to pay for return shipping which would cost me about $30-40. Aside from the inclusion in the center and my uncertainty with the J color, I didn't notice any significant red flags with this this diamond, and the HCA FIC rating means it has a really strong fire right?

I just want to make sure it's a promising enough stone to be worth risking the return (and bank wire transfer) fees. I've looked at quite a few stones but can't order everything I consider because i'd be spending way too much in just shipping and bank fees!

There are also black inclusions over on the right hand side from about 1:00 to 4:00. I am just not sure I'd feel confident enough about it to go to the trouble of having to return it and then wait on my refund before I could buy another stone.

Can you post the inclusion plot from the GIA report? Some could be a reflection of that center inclusion.

Maybe someone else will chime in.

I was a bit weary of the number of inclusions on the table, but since it was an SI1, I assumed it would be eye clean... did i make too big of an assumption with this?

You can never assume SI1 is eyeclean. You can usually assume VS2 is eyeclean, but I have seen a black inclusion from the side on a VS2 stone before. The good news is that it appears that the black on the right hand side was a reflection of the main inclusions. I'd really like some others to look at the picture and give you their opinion. My original diamond had an inclusion like this that I didn't even notice for years, but once I did, I was unhappy with the diamond. That was back in the days when most diamonds were not graded so I had no idea about clarity.

Thanks diamonddseeker2006, i truly appreciate all your insight!!

Bump! Any other PSers have any input?? This diamond can't be held too long so let's get this rolling! :wavey:

knock-knock, anybody there?
