Hi Guys
So I’m doing a lot of research well in advance as my husband has decided that rather than reset my princess cut 1.2ct diamond we will probably sell/consign it/keep it and make it a pendant (hopefully budget allows) and upgrade to a 1.8-1.9ct RB.
I've been looking long and hard and really keep coming back to the below two pictures. I love the 6 prong look and I want it in either
1) The knife edge and a 1/2 or 3/4 eternity band
2) Or center stone set in thin pave with matching wedding band.
I've got a size 5 finger and want to maximize the diamond presence. I live in Australia (Brisbane) but will be doing this through either JA or WF. It seems every jeweler I go to here says platinum needs to be sent away for polishing no one can do it in house. This worries me as I'm not going through them to get the ring made, Meaning why would they care how it's treated and do something dodgy like swap the stone out. I mean this is very unlikely but easier when you go back to the place you've had it made but I can't send it every year for that it's not feasible.
Here are my questions
1) For those of you with platinum or white gold solitaire e-rings, do u find the portion above your hand that's visible scratches up quite quickly and easily enough that it's worth looking into doing the second option which is the pave e-ring to reduce that scratched band look?
2) is white gold less or more prone than platinum to scratching? If it's the same I could just get it done in 18kt white gold and have it easily have it plated here at any jeweler while I'm in store every 6 months if I wanted to.
3) which look do you prefer at why?
