MsFlutter---I just looked at the Britax stroller--looks nice--what does your friend/you specifically like about it? (vs the bugaboo and the other one you have) I am having a hard time deciding on a stroller right now (and i have a big trip to Europe planned when baby is 6 months so i want to make sure i make the right decision!)

The britax handlebar has hinges on it, so it folds in half, which makes it super easy to just pull up to a table at a restaurant. it also is a bit more lightweight than the bugaboo and has better storage underneath. I like my bugaboo, but I dont know if I would have paid for it... It is a little hard to pull get it from folded to upright, has an odd storage shape underneath, you pay extra for the bassinet which i never used...

Oh my gosh, I have sooo much to catch up on here!

Ella, the twins are absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!! They look like such perfect, precious little things. Oh man, I already miss those newborn days. Sounds like you''re doing great though! Just keep taking tons of pictures because they change soooo quickly.

Tacori, LOVE the photos of Tessa in the stocking! That is just the cutest idea. She is adorable. And your list of must haves is awesome!!! I''m sure it will be very helpful to our moms to be. I can''t believe it''s been 9 weeks already. Time FLIES!

msflutter, good to see you posting here! I remember you mentioning your pregnancy at some point so I''m glad you joined this thread. I''m a 2 stroller mom as well. We have a Bugaboo because we live in NYC and it''s seriously my car because I don''t have/need one but I use the stroller every day to get Lily to and from daycare and that''s about 2 miles roundtrip. It takes the beating on the city streets very well. I also have a very simple Maclaren Volo that we used for traveling. It folds up easily, is super lightweight and I can gate check it and don''t care if the airline loses it!

TGal, I hear ya on the Bugapoo!!! People get a little crazy with the baby stuff. I had NEVER heard of Dwell bedding--I mean, I got my bedding at Target--and now I have friends talking about all this Dwell stuff. I''m sorry but you won''t catch me buying a silk and cashmere blanket for $120 so my daughter can pee, poop and drool all over it. I hate the baby snobbery. We don''t have a nursery either. Lily is in our dining area which is basically the alcove part of our living room! We didn''t even get her a crib till she was 5 months old and as it is, she spends most nights in our bed these days because teething is kicking her (and our) butt!

Mrs Mitchell, welcome!! Hope you''re having an easy pregnancy. I give you lots of credit for considering NOT having an epidural. I don''t know if I could have survived without it, to be perfectly honest with you! As it was, I got to 5 cm. without it but I was in PAIN. I didn''t even feel the needle when the epidural was inserted. At that point of utter discomfort, you''re sort of dazed anyway and the only thing that I could think of was the light at the end of the tunnel once those drugs kicked in! Within 10 minutes, I was a new person and still went on to have a fast and easy delivery. The whole thing from start to finish was about 7 hours and I was probably ready to push after 6 but they let me rest a little bit! I had stitches but on the inside--they didn''t have to cut me at all but I guess the baby tore me a little bit. I didn''t even feel any of that, nor did I feel when I was pushing so for me (and I think I have a high threshold for pain), the epidural was a no brainer! Whatever you decide will be right for you though. Don''t stress out over it. You will change your mind a million times until you are actually in the moment!

mrssalvo, how are you feeling?? How different is this pregnancy from those with your girls? Are all the old wives tales true--carrying differently, etc?

jas, my first pregnancy symptom was the feeling of a hangover for about 3 days straight! Baby Center has a wealth of information. Good luck and let us know what''s going on with you!

Jas12, it''s getting closer and closer for you too! I hope you do have the drug free delivery that you are hoping for but as you know, anything can happen and you shouldn''t be upset if you decide to go for the epidural. I''m also very glad that you are planning to travel with your little one. You have to do it at some point, might as well start when they are small and it''s great that you''ll have help. A snap n go is perfect for traveling, you''ll be fine. I''ll offer my travel tips when you''re ready!

35.gif
Hi Dani!!!! Girl, you''ve given us all so much advice and insight. I can''t wait till you tell us you''re pregnant!!!

As for me, we just celebrated Lily''s 8 MONTH "birthday"!!!! Holy $%^&#%$. I can''t even believe it. She is such a big girl already--sitting up, trying to STAND and walk but not interested in crawling, saying dadadada, babbababa, yayayaya, gagagaga, etc and mmmmmmmmm.
33.gif
Not really mama yet but mmmmmmm. It''s actually very cute! She has 3 teeth--2 on the bottom and one top eye tooth--but is definitely working on more and it''s no fun! Drool everywhere, chewing on everything she can get her hands on and having a rough time sleeping. She does end up in our bed a lot and truthfully, I don''t mind it one bit!!! I don''t really know much about "attachment parenting" but I do enjoy co-sleeping! We''ve been on 2 trips with her so far--our first was to LA in December for a business trip (I brought her and DH with me) and then we went to Georgia over New Years to see family. Surprisingly, she was AWESOME on the plane. She''s very social and made friends with lots of passengers. Fortunately, on all legs of both trips we had 3 seats to ourselves without paying for a seat for her and it made a world of difference to have the extra space. She slept a lot and didn''t have any problems with the flying. I will say that I was surprised that the airlines no longer let you pre-board with a baby but I guess it''s ok because it just means less time that you are trapped on a plane. As I mentioned, we bought a new lightweight stroller for traveling and brought our carseat and gatechecked both of them. A snap n go would have been great but we didn''t have one initially and figured it was stupid to buy one now since she''s getting ready to move into a big convertible carseat so we wouldn''t be able to use it for that long anyway. Other than that, she got super spoiled on Christmas, she''s thriving in daycare and she''s truly the light of my life. I can''t even imagine life without her! I know, it''s totally corny and everyone tells you that this is what happens but I absolutely love every ounce of this child more than I thought was possible. And she''s got a lot to love--chubby cheeks and thunder thighs!!

I hope all the new moms and preggos are feeling great and that we all have a wonderful 2008 full of love and joy from our little ones!

Thanks for posting that, Msflutter. It helps a lot. I''m nearly 30 miles away from the hospital / midwife unit. There is one hospital closer in the other direction, but in rush hour, could actually take longer to get to (we''d have to get over a nightmare bottleneck bridge with the neverending roadworks). I''d be lucky to be in time for an epidural, now I think about it!

Jen

OK, trying one more time with the announcement -- hopefully it''ll work this time!

Thanks, Jen and MsF -- we think they''re pretty adorable, but we''re a bit biased I suppose! Funny how Ian looks so much like your hubby! I love when that happens, those little Mini Mes
9.gif
Tacori, is Tessa starting to look like either your or DH yet? Diver, what about Delaney? Everyone says that Katelyn looks like me, but neither Q nor I think either baby looks like either of us yet.

Oh and MsF, it''s so good to see you back ''round here. There was a thread recently about "Whatever happened to ... ? " and I had wondered about YOU! Wouldn''t a few weeks down in Zihuatanejo be *perfect* right about now??

Yes, having two babies to take care of is pretty time-consuming, to say the least! Thankfully I can typically get by on little sleep (pregnancy def. gets you used to that!) and function semi-well, but I definitely have my "Calgon, take me away" moments too. Yesterday and last night were both pretty rough, so today I''m feeling a bit frazzled! Thank God hubby comes home soon ...

Here''s my big girl! Moms of baby girls: Gymboree is DANGEROUS and Pedipeds are the cutest shoes on earth!

ella, just saw your announcement--GORGEOUS!! Love it!

Ella, love your birth announcements. I REALLY wanted to do them but just ran out of time. I am guessing it is too late now (plus everyone knows about her). When I look at my baby pics she looks like a mini me but in real life sometimes she really looks like DH. I should post a pic so you all can vote. I am still waiting for her eyes to change (though they may not) and I wonder if her hair will lighten (DH was a toehead).

MrsM, of course it will be worth it and remember you are a strong lady. You CAN get through this. The memory is ALREADY fading after a few months. I left the hospital thinking she may be an only child, now I think it wasn''t so bad
1.gif
(not that I am in a hurry for a second!)

Curly, I just couldn''t resist. DH and I have those stockings from pottery barn from a few years ago so as soon as I came home from the hospital and saw they still have the same style I ordered her''s. I can''t believe Lily is 8 months already! she is beautiful and looks SOOOO happy! Congrats!

Well, Tessa just had her 2 month check-up. She is up to 9lbs 11oz and 22" Her head grew an inch too so I am happy about that! She was pretty upset getting her shots but as soon as we got her dressed and back in her car seat she fell asleep. I still felt bad for her. The doc said now is a good time to start a routine. We got to teach her day from night (which I think is pretty common). Also now she has to start taking a daily vitamin since she is mostly BFed. Since she is gaining weight he isn''t worried about the spitting/vomiting. He has a 4 month boy who I guess is a spitter too. My mom is coming in a few weeks for the weekend
36.gif
I am so excited. She hasn''t seen her since thanksgiving (3 weeks old) so she is going to be surprised. She can''t wait to see her smile and stuff.

Ella,
I LOVE your birth announcements, sooo cute!!!

Tacori,
Glad Tessa had a great check up. Those shots always got me, more than they did either of my kids. How fun for you that your Mom is coming to visit!!!
1.gif

I know Lisa! That *painful* cry is the worst! She probably will be cranky tonight poor thing. Also I think I saw a real tear today...
7.gif
but they are so important. I am very much pro vacs. I gotta put her in her Ohio State outfit for tonights game.

Ella, your announcement is adorable (and seriously, they are precious!) We had considered Gabriel as a name, so George could call him little G, it was one of our final three choices!!! I also made our announcements, but i didnt send them out till he was two months...I''ll post a pic here just because i cant get enough of his little face :)

MrsM, It took us 45 minutes to get to the hospital...and I thought I was going to die. I wasnt at all suprised when they said I was 8cm!! My midwife told me to stay at home till i absolutely couldnt talk. The best book I read was natural childbirth the bradley way, by susan mccutcheon...some pretty ungroomed pics but it was a great book.

Curly, I am going to try to stay around, I missed you all! and your little one...she is so cute! I just die over how cute girl stuff is!! Lucky for me and my wallet I dont have a little girl...However, i just discovered pedipeds and Ian will soon add them to his shoe collection which currently is full of robeez and vans!

i thought you were from wisconsin????

Ella--those announcements are fabulous! --the babes look so serene in those pics!

Curlygirl--yep, getting closer, and I am getting more and more anxious and excited for March to arrive--when i saw i was second on that Preggos in Waiting list for delivery (well, Tgal, Ms.S and I could all go around the same time!) I had an OMG moment :-)
i''ll totally take your travel advice when the time comes (that would be great!)--as for the birth, I am stubbron and have a very determined personality when it comes to some things so if i take the pain relief i''ll know i tried my best--everyone says that birth is so unpredictable and to not be too ridgid in your expectations so that''s what i am going to keep in mind.
Lily sounds like she is doing wonderful--must be such an exciting time when they are learning HUGE skills in such a short amount of time!!

MSFlutter --Thanks for the stroller info--I am really glad you pointed it out, it''s so much cheaper than the bugaboo, but has the same features i am after.

MrsMitchell/MsFlutter-- You guys are luck to have accress to midwife units--i tried so hard to get a midwife in my small city, unfortunately they were all booked for March--they are legislated in canada (meaning they are ''free'' and regulated like all health care in the country) so they are in high demand due to their extensive training and attention to patients....we need many, many more

Hi Ella!! Your birth anouncements are absolutely precious!! Those babies are so darn cute!!!!
2.gif
I am so happy to hear that things are going well!!

Msflutter- Ian is adorable!! Love your announcements too! I am so happy for you that you were able to fulfill your wish of going drug-free during your labor!!! You are one strong chick!
1.gif

MrsMitchell- Congrats to you! Curly gave you great advice....you have awhile to think about how you want things to go during labor, but remember, things change from minute to minute when you are there, so just play it by ear!!! If you decide to go for the epi, great, if not, that's ok too!

Curly! So great to hear from you! I am so thrilled that Lily is doing so well and I cant believe she is 8 months old already!!! She is just the cutest thing!!!
You know I love babies and kids, but DH and I plan on waiting awhile and enjoying married life before we go down that road....Until that time, I will live vicariously through my patients and you ladies!!! And, remember, we still have to plan that PS NYC get-together sometime soon!!!

ella: ur birth announcement looks great!! the pics are adorable...

curly: ur girl is adorable!! i guess we must have delivered around the same time frame..my son is just about to turn 9 months on the 10th...

I had posted this question in a separate thread here : Link

But as per recommendation from Kaleigh i am posting here too. I am looking to buy bedding for my son when we move to our new house but have had trouble finding stuff that is fits his cotbed..most beddings i find online are for cots/cribs, but my son has a cotbed (the cots that convert into a toddler bed when he grows up). I would really appreciate if you girls have any suggestions as to where i can find beddings online that would fit a mattress size of 140x70 cm (approx 28x55 inches)

Thanks!!!

Love your birth announcements! Makes me wish I did them

I am from Wisconsin, kind of. I was actually born in CA, lived in WI for 9 years, then OH for highschool & college. Now my family is back in WI. My extended family lives in your hometown though! DH is a Columbus boy so even though we both went to OU he will ALWAYS be an Ohio State fan.

Even though it wasnt Ohio states night, you should post a pic of her in her outfit. I''m sure she was adorable!

Hi Curlygirl, thanks for the welcome! Your daughter is just beautiful, congratulations!

Jas, the midwife unit here is pretty popular too, and it''s a long way away, but I think it''s the best choice for me. I hope, anyway!

Msflutter, thank you for the book recommendation - I''m going to browse online later and see if I can pick it up (meant to do it last night but fell asleep.).

Dani, thanks! I guess I just have to wait and see, although I''d have to go into the actual hospital for an epi if I do change my mind, as they don''t offer them at the midwife unit. (I get a strong feeling that they don''t really approve of them lol!)

Jen

MsFlutter, when Katelyn gets old enough to date (in oh, about 20 years), I''m looking up your boy for her!! So adorable! And I love the announcements! I made these myself after I saw how expensive all the ones I really liked were -- yikes. There are some really gorgeous ones out there though.

And Curly, Tacori, and Diver, I''m sure Gabe will like older women (his Daddy does - I''m two years older), so be sure to tell your cuties I''ve got a guy for them too! I don''t know how he''ll be able to pick between them, so they may have to fight it out over him
2.gif

Curly, I cant believe Lily is eight months old already either!! Wow, time really does fly, doesn''t it?? BTW, Lily looks like the happiest little girl in the world -- your enthusiasm toward her is definitely paying off, as she clearly loves her life! Way to go!

Dani, I can''t wait till you have kids! You''re going to be the best Mom b/c you''re such a sweet and caring person -- even to those of us you don''t even know in real life!

Jas & Jen, I have a friend who did a homebirth with midwife, so if you have any specific questions, I can ask her -- let me know!

I am so annoyed right now. We had registered for the Graco SnugRides, and my MIL offered to buy them for us back in October but since she didn''t have a BRU near her, I went to the store to get them. When I was there, I was talked into getting the (more expensive) Graco SafeSeat because it goes up to 30 lbs and for some other reason I don''t remember anymore. I specifically asked if it would work with the BabyTrend Double Snap-n-Go since we registered for that and really wanted it, and I was told it does. Fast forward to today when it''s going to be in the 60s and I can FINALLY go out for a walk with the babies, and guess what? The seats DON''T FIT in the stroller. I am SO MAD. Since the babies are only five weeks old and it''s RSV season and they haven''t been vaccinated for that (yet - hopefully), I can''t take them out to any malls or stores or anyplace, and since it''s been so cold out (last Thursday was 6 degrees) and the streets messy, I haven''t taken them out for any walks -- and I''m going stircrazy from being inside all the time! Hubby is going to come home for lunch, so I''m going to strap one baby to me in a carrier and go for a walk, but I feel bad that I can''t take both and that I have to be limited to hubby''s lunch time frame. I''m def. going to call and complain to BRU, and they BETTER take back that stroller even though we don''t have a receipt for it. Either that or we''ll return the already-used car seats and get the SnugRides or the Chicco that Tacori loves so much. OK, end of vent.

Awwww.....thanks Ella!!! You''re so sweet!!!!

Sorry about the stroller thing...how annoying!!!
14.gif

Ella that sucks! Will they take the graco back? Does Graco have their own double snap ''n go? (They have a single). My snap ''n go is the single baby trend. I use my Chicco car seat in it.

MsF, no it was not Ohio State''s night at all. I didn''t get a pic with her in her Ohio State gear but I do have an old one (she was two weeks old). I can try to dig it up.

Just when I think I get over the BFing hump something happens!
39.gif
I was having pain in my right nipple since late last night. I figured she just latched wrong and it would go away. (That''s happened before). Well, around 4:30 I looked down and saw a big (size of a pencil eraser) white bump!
32.gif
So I called my doctor but since it was the end of the day I have to wait until tomorrow. Then I called the 24 hour lactation center. She said it could be a few different things and I need to see my OB tomorrow. Also use hot compresses and pump on my right side. So now I am a lot of pain, have to pump
14.gif
and probably will have to supplement with formula (my dad said not to give her the milk from my right side just in case). And apply hot compresses. This is going to be a looooong night! Since I am not giving her the milk I don''t have to sanitize the pump every time right?

Sorry to hear that Tacori.
Hope it is nothing major and will heal fast.
Oh, thanks for the extensive list.
I''ll need to bookmark it
4.gif

urrgh--Tacori, that sucks!!! (sorry, no pun intended)--i hope it is nothing too serious. Do you think it''s an infected milk duct or something?

oh tacori you poor thing. I have no guesses as to what it could be but hoping it will clear up quickly so you can get back to your normal schedule asap...

Ouch, that sounds painful Tacori. I hope it heals up soon!!!

Thanks ladies
8.gif
Hopefully the doc can squeeze me in tomorrow. Tessa was pissed when she had to wait for me to make a 2oz bottle (to compensate for only nursing on one side). She was hungry! I don''t know what it could be. Something simple like a pimple, maybe a yeast infection (or other infection) according to the nurse, maybe a clogged milk duct
33.gif
Don''t know. Hopefully something simple that clears up FAST. I already told DH he was going to have to help me with the nighttime feedings otherwise I''ll never get to sleep! Nursing, bottle feeding, AND pumping will take 1.5 hours at least.

I saw some brown specs in Tessa''s eyes today. Maybe they are changing soon. It is fun to guess what they''ll end up being!

Ok, first off, the long promised belly shots...

Oz 288aa.jpg

And from the other side. I'll be 29 weeks tomorrow. Please excuse the wrinkly shirt...I didn't iron it after it was washed and was too lazy today to do so...

Oz 289aa.jpg

Ladies, the birth announcements are great. You all are so creative and of course have adorable subject matter! I didn''t even think about doing them. I might do a video one and email it out...

So, msflutter...if you have another one, would you try the epidural or think you would do it again?

curlygirl, dwell bedding? Never heard of it. Now I gotta go check it out. And your girl is so adorable...I can''t believe how fast she is growing up!

Ella, that is a serious bummer about the stroller. I would be pissed. Keep us posted as to what BRU does...I am curious to see how their customer service is.

Tacori, that just sounds too painful. I actually cringed when I read it. I hope all is fine and it resolves itself SOON.

TGal, you look terrific!!!
