I was wondering if those of you guys who have halo engagement rings have had problems with your center stone not looking shinny/dirty because the halo prevents the sunlight shining through the stone? Have any of you guys have had problems with cleaning your stone as well?

Im thinking of resetting my stone into a halo but I''m afraid that if I do so, it''ll take away from my center stone. In my current setting, the stone isnt as surrounded by metal and so light shines through well...showing the quality of the stone well. I dont want to loose that if I halo it. What are you opinions lady?

If you could, I would love to see your halo stones "shines"!

This will not be a problem in well-cut stones - light enters at the top and exits through the top too, so they don''t need light from the pavilion to sparkle.

(This is IRL. Theoretically yes, a halo or a bezel or any design that blocks light from any angle/position will cause a decrease in light return. In the real world, in well cut stones, these differences are negligible and not cause for concern. In not-so-well-cut stones they''re very real issues.)

My stone looks dirty because well, it''s dirty a lot. I think the halo makes it more difficult to clean the center stone. I haven''t noticed any issues with the performance of the stone though.

Prong set halos will generally allow more light to hit the stone than bezel set halos, which cover up the girdle of the diamond.

I''ve had no problems with either my stone "shining" or being able to clean it.
