Hi Kenny,

I think you said you have pink diamond with an Argyle number on it, but you didn't have a certificate for it. I just discovered by accident that Argyle now has an online laser number verification, and successfully verified a couple of my Laser inscribed pink diamonds using it. I'm thrilled! So I thought I would share the link with you, in case you hadn't stumbled across it yet. Here it is:

http://www.argylepinkdiamonds.com.au/CertificateVerification/

It says it's only good for diamonds with laser inscriptions after 2009, so I couldn't verify all of mine,, but I did get a couple. so I thought I'd pass it along to Kenny and anyone else out there on pricescope who is interested.

Happy searching!

Ps Should I post this on Rocky talk as well?

Thanks so much!!!

My pink's GIA report is dated Jan 20, 2009.
It got the laser girdle inscription number 313486 but it left Argyle's hands before their cut off to get into this database. ;(

But then, it appears to be a Certificate look up, not an Argyle laser inscription number look up so maybe FCDs that got the inscription but not the certificate will not be in the database anyway.
Not all FCDs with an Argyle girdle laser inscription got an Argyle certificate.
Those with a certificate are higher on Argyle's food chain.

Back then a 0.27 Fancy Deep Purplish Pink VVS1 Emerald Cut was not exclusive enough to earn an Argyle certificate.
Today brown Radiants do.

But thanks so much for posting this.

So you do not get in trouble for cross posting I'll post it in RT and credit you.

I actually saw this a few days ago myself. If your inscription number is earlier than the online data base, you can email Argyle a picture of your diamond with the inscription visible and they will verify it. Don't know if they will issue a certificate or not for these earlier diamonds. Might be worth a try, Kenny.

Thanks PJ, I may try that. :sun:

let me know how it goes!!

By the way- do you know if their inscriptions go in numerical order with all colors lumped together that they inscribe? Or do they only inscribe their pinks with numbers starting with a 3?

I'm sorry, I do not know.

Hi, Kenny and PJ,

Ahhh, yes, after I posted I realized that Kenny, you probably already had the Argyle information before you bought your stone since you bought it from Leibish, and that you only lack the physical certificate. In my case I had nothing but the number on the diamond, so I was very happy to be able to input it and have it verified. But I guess maybe a couple are before 2009 because they did not come up.

Thank you posting the info in RT for me, Kenny.

Pink Jewel, the numbers I have begin with six, seven, and three, so apparently not all Argyle pink diamond numbers begin with three.
The Argyle color grading is a bit different from the GIA color grading descriptions. I looked through Argyle's website at the stones they have now, trying to make sense of Argyle's letters/number system, which I find confusing, and match them to GIA's color grading. And yes, I was surprised at how many brownish colors now come with Argyle certificates. It doesn't seem fair that yours didn't rate a certificate, because you have a gorgeous pink diamond, Kenny!

I would love to be able to email to ask Argyle for their information on my other ones but taking a picture of the Argyle number will be a problem, I don't have good enough camera equipment or the skills! Maybe someday.…

thanks! I'm assuming the pinks starting with 3 are the ones you can't verify? About photographing the inscription, can you take a picture thru a loop with your P&S on the macro setting?

Hi, Pink Jewel,

No, I couldn't verify one number beginning with a 6 and one with a 3.

Hmmmm, never thought of that, but on second thought, you need a 20x loupe and lots of patience to even find the laser number!
I don't have a 20x loupe (although I could borrow one) but photographing it using it sounds very very difficult, just using the loupe takes time and patience! I might play around and see though. :twirl:
