I am SO SO curious - what is that gorgeous stone in your avatar? The color is so electric! I cannot figure it out for the life of me... I am sure I am the only one here that doesn't know, but DO TELL!

LD should be here along shortly but if I'm not mistaken, the stone in her avatar is a green copper bearing tourmaline, aka Paraiba tourmaline.

Yes, it is as Chrono has said (thank you Chrono). It's a pretty awesome copper bearing tourmaline - somebody said it reminded them of Kryptonite!!!! It's 3.33ct so pretty big but it is heavily included. However, I'm not bothered by that because you don't really "see" them, you just see the neon colour!

Thanks for asking - I'm getting it set soon so hope to post photos when it's done.

I am ressurecting this topic because I really want a yummy green stone, and, frankly, the color of your Avatar stone is rediculously amazing. I know you said it is a 3.33 carat copper bearing tourmaline and I am wondering if you would let me in on your source.

I recently asked about advice on a "mint" tourmaline, but if I have my druthers, I would want a stone like yours - and with inclusions!

I would appreciate any leads you can give me - I am totally unaware of pricing but I am looking for a special stone.

I am still so curious about this stone. Have you decided to set it? You never did mention where you got it...

Hi Sphenequeen - If I remember correctly, and this was some years ago, I bought this stone from a private seller who was selling off their collection. It's very difficult trying to find this type of material (and although this has a nice colour, it's very included) but keep an eye out because of the rising prices private collectors will sometimes part with some of their collection. I don't know of anywhere that has material for sale apart from the normal vendors such as Paraiba International etc but the prices are quite high. Having said that I'm not actively looking so there may be some on the market that I just haven't seen. Sorry I can't be of more help.
