Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instagram?

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

His history from what I can see is he was a mediocre jeweller from Detroit. He moved to England and became one of the youngest jewellers to set up at the infamous Hatton Garden. He likes to hang with UK celebrities and rich people and obviously likes to suck up to the media because when ever any celebrity appears with a large diamond ring he is the person the media gets to comment on it. He has made a living making out he is more famous and important than he actually is..... I make the observation that his own work is not in the same league as some of the top US jewellers.

I don't personally have a problem with him commenting on or for that matter posting famous celebrities rings on social media and making comments. I do however have a huge issue when he is trying to pass off a large number of these rings as being designed or made by him when very clearly they were not.

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

One of the magazine articles (the Luxury /luxurious one) mentions that he is a member of "London Diamond Bourse ".

Did he think that he was going to get away with pretending that he'd made Kim Kardashian's ring? The mind boggles.

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

I think he just comments on celebrity rings he is not trying to claim he made them, just that he can make things like them. He does however have a large number of photos lifted from social media where he does say look at my new design isn't it wonderful, or just finished this design which is just straight out lies. I don't know if you can do anything via the Diamond Bourse that is an organisation where you buy diamonds, he hasn't done anything that would be against their rules, but he would have violated the rules of a jewellers association but I can't find any that he currently belongs to.

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

Omg. What a loser, and a stupid one at that...

Well posting rings he flat out did not make, Ms. Kardashians, a Vatche from WF, a Christopher Designs ring that belongs to MSOP--he's flat out lying, committing copyright infringement by using photos that he did not take and claiming them his own by posting them on his site and social media uncredited, and, frankly, that's gotta be fraud if he's using it to recruit business, isn't it? Clearly he does not appreciate people calling him out for pulling this.

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

I totally agree. As I said over on page 2 if he was just commenting on other people's rings and actually acknowledge where they came from (which he seems to do sporadically) that would be one thing but telling your customers this is one of my designs (which he seems to do a lot of) is quite another. His own designs are boring and his workmanship not in the same league as a number of the rings he is trying to pass off as his own. I wish there was a jewellers association we could dob him into. I saw he attended and was nominated and shortlisted (probably self nominated) for a jewellery award in the UK (he didn't win anything) - we could probably complain to them, if he enters again, this guy doesn't deserve to be nominated for anything.

The only thing in his favour is he is a real jeweller, I can think of 3 sites in the past 3 years that ripped off photos of members rings that claimed they were selling them that were not even real jewellers just fraudsters that were attempting to scam people out of their hard earned money.

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

I reported my stolen photo to FB and a semi-composed message was sent to Lewis. I added my own short comment to fb's query. He responded. See pic below.

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

I attempted to edit my previous post to add that I kept my messages to him curt as I do not have time for this nonsense. :naughty:

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

He's such a dumbass. "I never said I made it". PUTTING IT IN CLIENT SELFIES IS IMPLYING YOU DID, not to mention including it on the "Fresh from the Workshop" section of your website, sure indicates that you are saying that you did.

Exactly! He has agreed to take them down and apologized for any stress he may have caused. At least he was cordial. Stated he got the photo from a jeweler website that did not use my name.
David Klass made my ring and David did not have that picture of my rings. He clearly lifted it off of a forum!

He clearly lifted a lot of pics off a forum. He still has MSOPs pics and Frankies pics on his Insta as well as that WF Vatche on his insta. None of which is attributed, but at least one of you has commented on them besides me and Frankie (on hers.) I have two other Insta accounts and I flagged them all for spam, but that doesn't mean they'll do anything. We called him on the Frankie ones, but he's STILL not taken them down.

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

He has now removed my pics from both his FB and Instagram. I hope he follows suit with the others' rings! :angryfire:

I suspect he won't without serious prodding.

Did he have yours on his website?

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

Isn't this a Bgd set? Or is that a Canera set. Either way, looks REALLY familiar.

And I love this photo credit of photos this person didn't even take. Does she work for ok magazine which published the original Kim K photo?

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

He hasn't removed that, or the WF Vatche, or Kim Kardashian's Lorraine Schwartz. Frankie's Victor Canera ring shots are still on his Insta and his FB.

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

Not that he cares, but clearly he's in violation of Instagram's Terms of Use, and likely those of the other social media sites as well (I only checked Instagram's).

I would like to think perhaps his entire social media presence could be shut down by reporting what I am estimating are hundreds of cases (at least) of copyright infringement.

On a related note, if you haven't read the Terms of Use for the various social media sites you use, you may want to. Reading the entire terms may take a couple of hours (or more, depending on length of content in referenced links), but it's time well spent.

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

Just FYI only the designers, photographers, and ring owners can appeal to Instagram. You have to be the injured party.

The description on his client selfies album is new, it wasn't there before. Damage control.

Well the copyrighted images of work he didn't make are still on his website, and several still in his instagram.

Direct links for MSOP and Frankie/Victor if they wish to report

Haha, I guess he never said it was HIS clients' selfies!!

By the way, Lewis Malka DID falsely claim that he made MSOP04's ring -- I took a screenshot. Looking at the photos of his actual work, there's no way he could make claw prongs like these.

Edited to add:
I see that he posted this same photo twice. If you see the comments on the more recent posting, he's misrepresenting that he was the one who sold the ring to potential customers. I feel so sorry for anyone who ordered a ring with him expected a ring of similar quality to MSOP04's or Frankie's or Sandeek's or other PSers' rings. I only hope that any potential customer Googling Lewis Malka will find this thread. Caveat emptor.

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

The cojones on this guy are so huge they must bruise his knees.

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

And regardless of what he says about not all images are his, unless he took the picture, purchased the picture, or has permission to use it, he is in violation of copyright.

In the US a photo is automatically protected by copyright when it is created. One can register a copyright, which helps in establishing a public record of any copyright claim, but neither registration nor publication are required for copyright protection.

This guy is 100% terrible. I certainly hope that all people whose photographs he has stolen do report it.

This guy is unbelievable! :nono: :liar: :angryfire:

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

I am going to make a full post on this in the Hangout with the links, but in light of this junk situation, I was looking for a Watermarking app for the iPhone today (they appear to have it in the Google Play store as well) and came across a pay app that is not cheap but is the best one I have found. It's called iWatermark+.

It lets you batch watermark, you can even sign a piece of paper, take a photo and it "scans" it, and then you can put THAT on the image as a watermark, tile it as the watermark....SO many options. You could put a logo on it. I love it. I've been screwing around with it all day, and put a couple images up this afternoon that a couple of you who follow me saw. I basically just signed "ame" on a piece of paper to test the signature option out, and that's what I stuck with vs doing my logo. I LOVE this app so far. It was worth the $4 I paid. I've read in the free versions that it will eventually hound you to upgrade, so it's worth just paying for it (I am not a fan of the ones with in-app purchases from the get go, I just buy it.)

I can't even find his profile on IG anymore to say anything! This is what I get when I search him... So frustrating!!

...it was nice of him to mention he sold my ring for £64K...I had more money than I thought! HA! [emoji57]

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

Hi msop04 - I just looked on Instagram and it's still there with his claim your ring is one of his bespoke creations. I'm looking at it from my home computer using Chrome. Maybe it's because you're on your mobile device you can't see it (?) - not sure. He definitely hasn't removed yours and frankiextah's rings from his account.

Just realized you have the wrong Lewis Malka. Try typing in Lewis Malka London.

Re: Calling MSOP04 - is this your ring/pic I found on Instag

If you follow the link provided by Ame to your ring it will still work. He may have made his profile not searchable. I'm on an iPhone too and can still access it via the direct link.
