I finally ordered the Casablanca I've been debating for so long, and am now thinking about jewelry. I was thinking an antique cameo would be great and unique to wear with such dress. However, I'm a little tight on money, don't have the dress with me, and don't have any experience shopping for cameos. I've been mostly checking out Rubylane.com and Ebay for these and have found tons. I know that new cameos will be posted every day until the wedding, but I'm anxious to find one.
I'm looking for one that is a light beige color, instead of orange, preferably gold-colored setting (even bronze!), and not a fake antique. I don't want a really choppy carving, but don't need a masterpiece, either. I think the hardest thing I'm coming across is matching the color of my champagne highlights on the dress. Also, I'd like one smaller than 2" long, so it doesn't swamp my chest.
I'd like to keep it under $200. Hopefully I can find a good balance in price and quality.
Here's my big three contender's now: they're in flash format, so I can't post them here:
1. http://www.rubylane.com/shops/jewells/item/J-1429 $85-- this has a great price and carving, and I love the setting. Just wondering if the cameo color is too dark for my dress? 1 1/4" long.
2. http://www.rubylane.com/shops/brysantiques/item/RL000379 $175-- a little pricier-- looks like the color would match well, but the picture is just too blurry. Overall the carving looks sharp. 1 1/4" long. Worth the extra money when I can't exactly see the details?
3. http://www.rubylane.com/shops/greatfinds/item/2808 $225- $25 over my price limit- very sharp, crisp carving, unique color. Pretty, if a little plain setting. A little larger 1 3/4" long. Would this match? Worth the extra money?
Here's my dress for comparison. I know that there will be more cameos posted every day. I just don't know whether I should jump on one of these or wait it out. I enjoy hearing from you all about this, getting a second opinion on the color matching, and also I think this helps by writing this post to flesh this out in my mind. You know how indecisive I can be!!
Thank you for reading my posts, helping me with my decisions, and letting me flesh this out here!
