Can anyone give me a ballpark blue Sapphire value?

You are 100% right - if you’re not in a hurry then give it a shot. There is bound to be someone out there who will fall in love with that ring and you could get much more.

Since you are a small, private seller and this would be a substantial sale for you, I would recommend NOT listing it on eBay or any other forum where you would be directly collecting a reversible payment, like credit card or paypal or some kinds of bank transfers. There is too much potential for buyer fraud. For large sellers, that's the cost of doing business, but it will really mean a lot for you to lose the gem. I think the suggestions you are getting to go through an auction house, a professional consigner, etc. are great ones.

Congrats on your find! I recently sold a piece to Lang Antiques and was pleasantly surprised that the price they paid me was similar to what I would have been able to get on Loupe Troop. It might be worth contacting Suzanne at Lang to see if they are interested in the ring. If they are, they will have to see it in person, and will then give you an offer price to purchase it outright, and another (higher) price if you want to consign it through with them.

Just saw this today, 13+ carat unheated Ceylon sapphire sold for $13,700. Not sure if this helps to guide pricing for unheated, large, lighter colored, windowed sapphires.

Window prob played a role in the pricing.

She sure is big - but really not pretty!
(Trying to be polite). Almost like it’s all window.
Thanks for thinking of us for price reference though! It’s very nice of you.

Thanks. It is impressively large, but my sapphire has much less window, and I think a much more attractive color. Compare my GIA photo to this one, and I think they are not in a similar category. But then, I am just learning still, maybe I am wrong.

@Tribalypredisposed agreed that I much prefer yours! Bigger is not always better and thus I suspect the much bigger window/less attractive color was the reason why a 13+ carat sapphire was “only” 13k. Although, it was sold pretty quickly (Within days of it being listed!)

Just goes to show that the heart wants what the heart wants. Different tastes for diff folks—if someone snatched up that ring that quickly, there must be buyers out there who will fall in love with your (imho better) ring! Sending you lots of good thoughts and luck!!

I love emerald cut blue Sapphire and this stone really mesmerized me.
I was dreaming on the lang website and recognized the stone :-)

The professional pictures are so much better than the real life one. The truth might be between both….
