Can anyone tell by these crappy photos what kind of opals these are? The pictures don't show how much red color play they have.

They look like typical commercial Welo(Ethiopian) to me.
The first looked like dyed or smoked Welo, the second look like lesser quality Welo.

I guess you really can't go by feel..I had a matrix opal that felt like plastic and it turned out to be genuine...these feel like stones and they are lab made...

Just based on these pictures, these look like foil-backed opaline glass to me. It’s an older type of opal simulant.
