can HCA 0.8 stone look 'blurry'?

After some searching, I finally came across to what I thought to be a very nice stone.
The size I wanted, an okay price, and excellent HCA score. I sent an email to vendor asking for a picture, and I got this one.
I have the impression it somehow doesn't look neat. What do you think?

Hi Julie, the pic was e-mailed to my by he vendor. I think it was taken with a camera, but I have no clue of what type, if this is what you are asking. Could that be that the stone is just out of focus?

When I saw this, I remembered some posts discussing that fluo can make stones look milky/blurry..

It is rated as an L. The size is around 2.40 carats, and price is around 10.700 dollars, including taxes.

Have you seen a large L in person? I know I couldn't handle that color because it will be visibly tinted, but there are certainly people who have them. I think you probably will have to take a look at it as long as they have a return policy.

i mean, it is the photagraphy, not the cut.

L color in this size will be off-white. Does it have strong blue fluoro?

I have seen also lowered colored stones, but never a modern cut (I have a larger OEC that must be a M or lower).
perhaps a different type of cut would give a different impact to the color?

the only thing the certificate states regarding the fluorescence is that it's medium. so I suspect it would still face up far from white.
I am still fantasizing, but I am considering a bezel setting, a la james meyer, in non rhodium plated or maybe one of these less bright yellow or rose golds.

also, I have read somewhere that stones with lower grades can have either yellow, brown, or grey hue.
does this one look any gray to you?

it looks to be of the yellow variety.

I imagine in an L color, if it were brown or something else not yellow, GIA would note it.

It would look stunning in a James Meyer!

Does it sounds like it could be the best bang for the buck? If possible, I'd like to stay below budget, and surprise my boyhusband with something awesome, instead (maybe a new race bike).

I was looking at OEC before shifting to MRB. I have spent quite some time browsing JBEG and OWD, without finding anything really comparable in terms of size, quality and price

Where I live most of the people wear very minimal engagement rings (under half a carat), despite the area being wealthy. Especially in my profession, I barely see any diamond. On the other hand, it's a free country, and one should do what pleases him/her. I have a 5.5 size, as far as I know, and think anywhere between 2 and 2.5 or so would look best.

I have no rush, but I want a larger stone (since there's no intention to upgrade in the future) and I'd like to make sure it is a very good deal.

HRD is considered to be slightly stricter than GIA on the same nominal color grade.

I would though, since fluoro is medium, ask what color the fluorescence is. and is it eye-clean?

If you want an OEC, contact both of the vendors mentioned above. I have read in many threads that only part of OWD's inventory is on their site, and JBEG can find things for you, too.

they told me it is beautiful and eye clean. asking regarding the fluorescence color is probably a good idea
