No they had lovely pearl and jade jewelry, but I am not a fan of either. Just give me diamonds! I did pick up a couple of cute handbags for myself and one for my daughter in Hong Kong. We also bought some things for our house and my husband had some shirts and pants made (it was his birthday).

Welcome back Sundial! I love the pictures. Post more if you got ''em.

Oh, I didn''t see this until now! I love the pictures! Of course, China is special to us since we went there 1o years ago to get our youngest child! But there''s SO much to see there...it would take a few more trips to see much of it!

I mostly bought freshwater pearls for our mothers and a couple of smaller ones for my girls when we went.

I was hoping that you would see this thread DS. I would imagine that China holds some very special memories for you. Do you think you will ever take your youngest daughter back there to visit? You are right there is so much to see that we only scratched the surface. Hopefully we can return again one day ourselves. What part of China did you visit?

Yes, it does hold the most wonderful memories for us! We started in Hong Kong, then went to Changsha in Hunan province, then Yueyang in Hunan province where the orphanage is, back to Changsha, and then to Guangzhou (2 week trip). We really saw a lot of how the Chinese people really live..went to schools, temples, museums, etc. but did not make it to the major attractions like the Great Wall and things that you got to see. So we definitely need to make another trip when our daughter is older. It is a very long and tiring trip, though, which I am sure you can relate to! (Except we were traveling from the east coast which makes it even longer.)
