Hi everyone
I'm Rex and I'm new to forum. It's really nice to meet you guys!

I recently interested in a estate Harry Winston 2 carats engagement ring with GIA report and harry winston replacement evaluation report.
I just wondering if I bought this ring, can I get serviced at Harry Winston boutique? I went to boutique yesterday and the salesman said they maybe not know whether the stone is actually harrywinston or not. So my question is if I can get service or make sure the ring is actually from HW? if so , can harry winston provide a documentation to prove the ring is from HW? So if I get certificate by GIA again, the original evaluation report will discard so can I make a new one...?

appreciate your help!!

Rex

Hi Rex!
What type of service does the ring need? Just cleaning or sizing?
I buy a lot of "slightly used" Cartier and Tiffany on Ebay and have always brought the pieces into their respective stores for cleaning and sizing with out any problem. I never state that I'm not the original owner.. they never ask either.
I have never asked for a new valuation report though so I can't help you out on that.
Good luck! :wavey:

The difference between a ‘genuine’ Harry Winston and something else has to do with the paper trail, and nothing else. Original receipts etc. are the key. Although it’s possible that they have copies of these things in their files, the usual source is from the seller and obviously that comes with the possibility of papers that have been counterfeited or altered. Have you asked them to authenticate the piece? What did they say? Is this authentication the heart of your question?

I don’t think they limit their service department to only working on things that were 100% provided by them but I’m not sure of this. If you’re looking for a sizing or cleaning, for example, I suspect they’ll do it anyway.

Just out of curiosity, It sounds like where you’re able to get repairs done is an issue on your purchase. May I ask why?

Also, it sounds like you're considering getting a new GIA inspection. Why? In particular, will the purchase be contingent on these results?

Yea like what if I bought a like 30 years ring and the design engraved is handmade not laser, they won't treat it like they never saw this ring and thought this is not their product right?

I haven't ask yet since I'm deciding on whether buy that ring...Harry Winston ring do not have serial number if it was like 30 years ago, and the sales said that every ring should have one(which maybe because she is not even 30+ years old). So in this case I don't know how to deal with this situation... if one day I take my wife to boutique to clean, they said oh it doesn't have serial number seems weird...Just don't want to give my wife like where this ring from is that authentic..... that's all my concern.

thank you for your kindly reply!

If your seller does not have credible paperwork to defend that it’s authentic and HW is unwilling to issue ‘new’ paperwork supporting this, assume that it’s NOT, and shop accordingly. That, of course, doesn’t mean that it’s inferior or even that HW won’t work on it anyway, but if authenticity of manufacturer is part the specs and a requirement for your shopping process, make that the standard.
