My SIL fell in love with a halo split shank chocolate diamond Levian ring from Jared's. I want to help her find a better diamond, since I'm pretty sure those are color treated. Her budget is around $1200. If you have setting suggestions I'd love to see those too. Thank you very much!!

love the champagnes.....but have no leads for you. did you check lebish online?

I did check them, there were one or two. I forgot To say that she wanted a radiant or cushion. Do you think it's unrealistic to find a stone around 800? Thanks again!

Oh great thank you I will check it out : )

Brown diamonds are not often colour treated ALTHOUGH I'm sure this is happening more now. I have a brown/champagne cushion so they are definitely out there. However, I would look at Ebay if I were you because you'll probably find something there that is also very affordable.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-61-carat-Real-VS2-Clarity-Champagne-Color-Radiant-Cut-Loose-Natural-Diamond-/380477127466??? Here's a bit one. It's over budget but they might negotiate. Also, check out whether it's had any treatments. They normally state if it has and this one doesn't have anything to suggest it has in the auction notes. This has the orange tones that I love to see in brown diamonds because they are much warmer than some of the champagne colour diamonds that can look very cold.

or this which is much smaller http://www.ebay.com/itm/0-25-carat-VVS1-Clarity-Real-Radiant-Cut-Solitaire-Natural-Champagne-Diamond-/271067806547??

I've not bought from this seller but I would ask for handshots if you're interested (especially in the bigger one).

I guess it depends on the size of the stone.

used to be that champagne diamonds were very very affordable, imo.
however, now that white diamonds have risen in price even more i think that interest in champagnes grew.
the more limitations you have re a stone [specific cut] the harder it is going to be to find something in your price range.
if you don't have a set date by which you must have this ring, you'll have a better chance at finding exactly what you want.

also, you can get engaged w/o an e-ring. my first marriage i didn't want an e-ring but my fiance wanted me to have something and he bought me a pendant with what i now call a diamond chip in it! his need, not mine to have something.

Is the budget $1200 or $800? You mentioned a cushion or radiant but not the size.

The total budget is 1200 for the ring, I was thinking of setting aside around $400 for the setting. I don't think she is picky about the size, just something nice and sparkly. It will be a right hand ring. Thank you, I am going to check out your suggestions.

Oh has anyone had experience with Isreal diamonds? There were a few on there that looked nice for around $800

Hehe I was just talking to her and she said her budget went up to $1500 total for the ring!

Have you scouted around to get a realistic approximation of how much the setting she likes costs? From there, you'll be able to play around with the diamond budget.

LOVE brown diamonds.

Too bad she wasn't looking about two years ago. Prices have nearly doubled from what I've seen on my preferred vendors list.

If you or her have the stomach to wait out auctions. I'd head over to bid4desire on ebay. I've bought a few diamonds from them and have been very happy.
