I wish the celebration involved bling, but alas, DH and I just went to the zoo. LOL But, a lot of the exhibits we wanted to see were closed, and my boob is still pretty sore/itchy and my knee started bothering me from walking so much, so it wasn't as much fun as it probably could have been.

 I'm very late in responding to this thread, but I have been reading along and wanted to say that I wish you continued good health, LilMisfit. I'm not the best about dealing with cancer, and I'm sorry I didn't chime in earlier with my support. But I am so happy to hear that your mass is benign. Onwards and upwards! :appl:

So glad to hear this!!! More pie for breakfast in solidarity!!!

Something for you to think over: Do you need an ultrasound in 6 months for your sake? Why continue imaging (no tone here on my part, rhetorical question).

A very large and now very famous study was recently released regarding mammography leading to unnecessary procedures and mental anguish without increased survival rates. I support you in however you manage your own breast health.

I work at a large famous healthcare establishment. I see breast cancer patients daily with their imaging, path reports, and tumor analyses (if they have tumor). I chose to image myself every 3 years. I know that if a nonspecific suspicious something is ever seen I will talk to the radiologist and I will send those 3D images to a specialist before I go with anything further. If I did have inflammatory breast cancer, doing it this way would not change the outcome.

This is just me and I don't suggest this for anyone else. What I'm saying is that you have options. You were a champ.

Hi Azstonie - my surgeon ordered a follow up ultrasound in 6 months, and yes, I'm going to do it. Since my mother and my aunt both had breast cancer I am extremely concerned about my risk and want to follow up as often as indicated. Honestly, if I had my way I'd follow up sooner just to make sure that the mass isn't getting larger. I'm always amazed when women I know are diagnosed with breast cancer and it's at a stage that's so far along that they need chemo. In my opinion, if you have something suspicious you need to monitor it very closely for changes. I work in healthcare as well and really don't understand the "wait and see" philosophy that so many physicians employ these days.

Completely logical, I'd do same with that family history and way of thinking about treatment.

So happy to read your good news! I am sure you feel very relieved! Perhaps the best celebration party of all is one in which you can get some rest without nagging worry. I am delighted for you!

Hello! I just wanted to chime in here. First of all, I am so thrilled for you, Lil Misfit, I have been following your story and am SO relieved for you that all checked out okay.

Secondly, I'm curious as to why Azstonie isn't a fan of your follow-up 6 month ultrasound? Azstonie also refers to the mammography study - is that what you meant to talk about, mammography not ultrasound? I am totally just asking to understand where you are coming from. I see your point of view regarding mammography, but after what Lil Misfit has been through, a 6 month ultrasound makes complete sense to me for several reasons and I'm really glad she's having it done! :appl: But I would like to understand more of your point of view.

Anyway, congrats again Lil Misfit on the wonderful news! Hope you are enjoying your weekend! :)
