Canadian Diamond Options

I think if you buy from a well known company (e.g. Canada mark, brilliant earth), it's reasonable to trust that the diamond is Canadian if its advertised as such.

I think your best bet is to buy from a jeweler that sells actual CanadaMark diamonds that come with the CM COA, like so:

I agree the only hesitation I have with BrilliantEarth is that they haven't given me any sample documentation/info to support origin and I've been going back and forth with them for weeks now. Very frustrating bc the whole time they were my frontrunner due to the large selection and now I'm forced to pivot and go plan B.

I agree. Either that or the local guy who buys his Canadian rough in Toronto and then cuts it locally.

Overall I think BE has atrocious customer service. So overall I'd recommend going with another vendor if possible anyway.

I think you should call Beth Whatshername at Brilliant Earth and say, WFT, Beth? All this media splash about non-conflict diamonds and your company can't even verify freakin' Canada? i would not buy a paper clip from Brilliant Earth.

With respect to our the Evil Genius Kenny, how likely is it that someone falsified a report on a modestly sized and priced round brilliant? What is the payoff?

Considering the amount of thought and effort you've put in to this already and your "soft" proposal date, I think you'll be fine. You'll find a lovely diamond mined and cut in Canada. I believe they exist.

Here is a link of the 1.2 CanadaMark (the consensus best of my initial 3 options), that a local jeweler is having sent in. Any thoughts:

I am not a fan, to be honest. But If this is the only way you'll feel comfortable about origin then thats important.

Do you mind explaining what you don't like about it so that I can be more informed when I look at more stones in the future? Thanks.

I am not as good at describing "why" I don't like a stone as some others on here, but I'll try. I see a "ring" of darkness around the table, and the arrows aren't as well defined as I would prefer. The cut just doesn't look precise to me, and I woudn't consider it an ideal stone. That said, it isn't a total disaster either (many people buy e-rings from the mall and end up with horrible stones). This certainly isn't in the latter category, it just isn't one I'd recommend.

Have you reached out to these folks?

It says each is inscribed and have a cert of authenticity.

Found this one that looks promising but the inclusion makes me a bit nervous. I would ask them if it's eye clean, and at what distance.
