Cartier brooch? I can't believe it

I can't even find one thrift store near me. The few "antique malls" all seem to know what they have, so no bargains. I'm so jealous @stracci2000. You always come up with the best things, but this is definitely the "super find" of hauls. Can't wait to see what you find next and rescue for us to drool over.

the charity shpps here like the selvation army and the hospice shops ad the like never have jewellery finds like that anywhere near me either

How did I miss this??!!! What a find!!! :kiss2: :kiss2: :appl:

So naturally , I've been staring at this thing for the last couple of days.
My head is spinning from looking at hundreds of vintage Cartier designs and scrutinizing the hallmarks. And the hallmarks really vary over the years, which is confusing to research.
I am not doubting the Cartier stamp, however. I still feel it is legit....I hope!

I'm wondering about the arrow mark near the "14k"
Of course I saw this right away. But now that I've calmed down and started to research it, I'm curious about this mark.

I'm assuming this piece was made in 1950s -60s, based on the brushed finish. They did make a lot of brooches in 14k during that period.

Do you think that Cartier used cast stems and pin fixtures made for them by another company?
I can see that the leaves were hand soldered onto the stem. Maybe it was a small production piece. What do you think?

I believe it is depicting a wild rose with little thorns on the stem.

Yes! That was my thought - a simple rose!

I did find a few other Cartier interpretations of roses (online, that is) so mane that motif was “a thing” for them.

So in doing more research, I have seen the crescent arrow mark attributed to Henry Blank and Co. They were affiliated with Tiffany, Cartier and others.
So it's a firm "maybe" , Ha!

You may want to reach out for an opinion?

Yeah, that's really similar. Would Cartier have used another company? I'm doubtful, but stranger things have happened.

What do you think @yssie?

I think the flower portion is definitely a match! They sell estate pieces as well. If you're really curious I'm sure it'll be a lot faster to get an opinion from them than anything with Cartier!

I can't speak to authenticity on this one. I have seen big house names randomly engraved into vintage pieces before, though. Whatever the backstory on branding - it was a great find!

Maybe that's the case here.
Made by another manufacturer, but sold to Cartier. And then stamped, to sell in their store?
I guess anything's possible.
Thanks for your input @yssie!

There's no way to know what went on 70 years ago with this brooch.
Stamped to mislead a buyer?
Stamped for resale in a jewelry store?
It's all making my head hurt.
I'll probably never know, but I'm happy to have it.

That’s really close, for the petals/rose part.

Oh, I’d take it back if it’s not Cartier.
How misleading.

And Yeah, I’ll say hi to you just as soon as my purchase transaction goes through, I’m the one hovering over, literally, over the top of the card reader with my card at the ready.

The receipt says "No refunds or exchanges" so I guess I'm stuck with it! :)
