Every contractor I was supposed to meet with today was late so the day was becoming a total loss. I figured I'd take advantage of the downtime and sunny weather to take some pics and post things I've been far too slow about posting.

First up, spinel and diamond ring. I got the spinel from Jeff Davies and the setting from Intergem. I went planning to get a 3 stone setting as I don't have one. I was waiting on another ring to be set and tried this setting out while killing time. The proportions of the diamonds to the center stone really worked for me, much to my suprise. I really like the back, too. There is a basket pattern which helps it lay flat on the finger instead of wiggling like some larger halos are prone to do.

Tiny spinel, I think from Litnon. I planned to do a necklace, but found this setting at Intergem. I thought the daintiness of the band worked with petite gem so got a ring instead.

Estate diamond earrings from last year's Intergem. Estimated to be between 5-6 carats. I had them appraised, but can't find the appraisal. I call these my Elizabeth Taylor earrings because they make me look just like her. I swear they do make me look younger, though. :wink2:

Very pretty!

Cute little trillion tourmalines from The Gem Trader. I believe they are from Afghan, but purchased about 2 yrs ago so my memory might be failing me. I set them in earrings which I do enjoy, but I am tempted to make them part of a three stone ring some day.

Sapphire studs because everyone needs the basics, right? I had lost one of a pair that were previously a gift. I had that set into a ring and purchased the stones from Jeff Davies and set by Daniel M. It was a fairly budget friendly project. The stones look more like the second photo in real life. BTW, hat netting is great for holding earrings for pic taking.

Rose zircon earrings I got at an art fair a few years back. It seems like zircon isn't that popular, but I love these. The checkerboard cut and how low they dangle make them sparkle like crazy. The color really warms up my complexion, too. I'm really pale so every little bit helps.

My first FCD. Perhaps the experts here can tell me if the center stone is brown or champagne or something else. Another art fair purchase and I almost didn't try on because it looks like it would be uncomfortable, but it fits in my fingers perfectly! I like the texture on the top and how thin it is. It can stand on its own or be worn with other rings. The bezel work is really nice, I wish I could remember the artist's name.

Wow kgizo, I love all of your jewels-especially the Elizabeth Taylor earrings and the Jeff Davies spinel and diamond ring and your rose zircon earrings!   And love the uniqueness of your first FCD ring. Great purchases all of them!

Hope your contractors finally showed. So frustrating taking time from work and other important matters waiting around for people who may or may not show.

HI:

Great loot!

cheers--Sharon

Those are all fantastic! The bottom of that halo is awesome too! Thank you for sharing

So many things to say! I love the proportion of the diamonds to the spinel in your halo - how cool to find that setting. I also love when the prongs are on the outside point of the halo like that - don't know what its called, but it looks regal. Question: what color is the spinel when unset and did it change when set? Is it a red like a brick red, or is that just the photos? Love the earrings! Pure love! They are beautiful and I'm sure you look exactly like Liz when you wear them. :wink2: You have talent finding just the right settings at Intergem, that's for sure. You really have been busy! :appl:

I especially love the diamond earrings! But all of it is very pretty!!! :appl:

Wow, they are fantastic, I love both spinels, and the earrings, very hollywood!!!!

It is so nice to have a place where we can all share our love of bling! Thank you all for the nice comments. My DH just says "that's nice" with a dead look in his eyes :( It has been a fun few years, but I'm on a hiatus now as we just moved so all my jewelry budget is going to blinds, area rugs, organizers . . . all that necessary stuff that just isn't as fun to shop for.

MB, it's a shifty stone and the setting did change it some, but I don't think it's brick red. It has more of an orange modifier, and I see some pink and a little bit of purple at times. The preset pics are at the bottom of page 16:

I'll try some pics in different lighting this weekend to see if I can't get a more representative pic of what I see.

Those Elizabeth Taylor style earrings are amazing! And love the colored stones too!

Love your stash, especially the LT earrings!!! Can you take a photo of them on please? :twirl:

Great finds! Love the spinel ring and the dangly trillion earrings!

You have some pretty cool pieces there, Kzigo!! I love the zircon trillion dangles!! and the skinny champagne diamond band - that's such a cool design!!

What an eye you have for finding the perfect treasure, at these shows!!

I LOVE those earrings. I mean it. I rarely say something like that, and I have a lot of posts.

nice elizabeth taylor earrings! and thats a good idea for halo rings. ill keep that in mind :naughty:

Wow, those Liz Taylor earrings are glamorous!!

MB, here are the pics of the spinel before being set. The first two are my iPhone pics, the next two are vendor pics.

Now here are some iPhone pics where I think the color is more representative. They are a bit blurry, but I was going for color in different lighting environments. It did darken up some in the setting. I see more orange and purple, and less pink. Not sure if this is your definition of "brick red". I think of brick red as having brown in it and I don't see brown. Let me know if this doesn't fully answer your question and I can try for more pics.

I'm glad so many of you like the earrings. It was a lesson for me to not make assumptions about price. My exact words to the vendor were "there's no way I can afford those, but they are gorgeous and I have to see them up close". I don't know if she took pity on me or discounted heavily because they aren't white (I think they are G/H/I), but the price she quoted me was more than $1k less than what I would've guessed. The first pic is really blurry, but it shows how much they sparkle. Since the diamonds are at different angles there are always some facets to catch whatever light is present.
