Hello everyone!

We are having a small post elopment celebration in Texas in August (about 1 month after we elope). It is a Texas Style BBQ and I am still trying to figure out the centerpieces and decorations. They need to be something I can ship because we live in CA. So that means no live flowers.

The venue provides red and white gingham tableclothes and blue country plates. I think that is completely appropriate as we are keeping it casual and fun.

For centerpieces I was thinking about putting old cowboy boots in the center and either filling them with flowers OR metallic sparkley stars and then placing pictures of me and DF as children in our western wear (we both have pictures of us in western wear) on the tables in nice black frames....

What do you think? Do you have any ideas. You are all so creative.
I appreciate any help and any pictures!

Thanks!

what about doing something like those copper stars that i am doing in the guest bedroom? they had small ones for cheap on that website you passed onto me? or what about a large hurricane with a candle in the center and then doing the framed pictures around it? maybe propping one or two small stars up against the hurricane? just thinking out loud here.

we shipped a bunch of stuff directly to hawaii from crate and barrel and pottery barn for decor for our destination. it worked out great.

Mara- THAT IS A GREAT IDEA! I love it!!!!
okay everyone- please send me websites where I can find cheap rustic metal stars and hurricanes! I know how resourceful you all are! If you stumble across hurricanes or stars, please send them my way!

I am picturing it in my head and I am so excited!

Mara- you''re the best...by the way- how is the guest room coming along?

You want rust?

p.s. I think the rusty stars and/or lanterns are a great idea.

Thanks, Ebree!

Does everyone like the rust or would something a little more polished be better?
I think the rust is appropriate.
The place we are having the party at is:

The Salt Lick

What do you think?
Thanks!!

lol Janna love that name. I think the rusty stars are PERFECT!!!

you could even get the stars that hang, the small ones in that rusty link that look like ornaments and put the star around the hurricane so it kind of hangs down or lays on the table or something.

oh and the guest room is slowly coming, still waiting on the stuff to arrive (stars should be here tomorrow and bedding too) so then i can choose a color this week and paint this weekend!! i gotta get going!

OR.. (I''m on a roll now!)

what about doing these gold charger plates:

and then getting the small stars and propping them up amidst a bunch of different sized candles? you could do the flat stars in bulk and just kind of mix them in with the candles or something. hmmmm. i can see it in my mind but maybe its not sounding right.

i like both ideas actually. i am a sucker for candles!

WOW- looks like you''re all set with ideas. Mara is on a roll. (LOVE the rusty stars!)

Just wanted to chime in and say that your venue is the best! I always try to make it over to the Salt Lick when I''m in town.

Oh, I know! I am so excited!!! I need to wear an outfit with some "give" because I am going to be SO FULL of good ole Texas BBQ. I can''t wait!!!!

FYI PSers- If you are in Austin, Texas- YOU MUST GO TO THE SALT LICK! It is BYOB and amazing, wonderful spectacular BBQ~

As for the centerpieces, I think I am going to go with the hurricanes with the rusty stars and ivory pillar candles...
The question is...Do you think I should fill the hurrican''s with anything around the candle? I don''t feel that roses are fitting...
Do you have any thoughts?

Thanks,
Janna

If you don''t want roses, the rosehips (or whatever they''re called) around the base of this candle have a great rustic look and in red they''ll complement the table cloths.

I''m glad I saw a picture of the boot, from the Salt Lick website, ''cause when you suggested that I thought it sounded so cute. But seeing an actual boot on the table kinda weirded me out!!

Wow... I''m lazy and usually just lurk on this forum but I have to say, you girls are so helpful!!!!

I love the rusty stars for my own wedding!!!! I''ve posted about it here: http://azbride2be.blogspot.com

THANK YOU!!! :)

Janna I think you''d be fine with not filling the hurricanes with anything ... and just propping up the stars on the outside?
