Certified Natural Color-Change Sapphire Melee...anyone want?

Hi! I buy from this vendor all the time...he sells me these little (.5-1.0ct) Natural Sapphires pretty regularly..for a great price. I usually buy 4 or 5 of them a month, and I have a sub-collection within my own gemstone collection with his little Sapphires, lol. Anyways, they all come with a Certificate that says they are Natural Sapphires, but no indication of heat treatment or lack therof. The Certificate is from a lab that has since closed, or doesn't have a website. The Certs are from 1999.

Anyways, he was kind enough to send me a "gift". It isn't anything I'm interested in, but I know I've read of people on here looking for Melee stones...maybe you make your own jewlery, etc. There are 4cts of these stones...and there are 26 stones in total. That means that the average stone is .15cts. Most of them seem around the same size, with a few exceptions being a little bigger or smaller. I'd say most are around 2.5mms maybe? Im guessing. None of them look anywhere near as small as my 1.5mm diamonds or as large as my 4mm stones I have. They are all round.

In some lighting they are brownish, like the same color as Smoky Quartz usually is...medium/medium dark. In other lighting they start to go cranberry/maroon...some more so than others. It is definately a noticable change.

Im listing these here because I don't want to sell them, I didn't pay for them. I want to give them to someone who can use them. If not, maybe you guys can find someone for me who will use them. I am more than happy to send them, along with the certificate, and I'll cover the shipping too. I just feel that we have a unique interest in common, and I am happy to do my share to help someone out.

I won't accept any money. If whoever takes them wants to trade a stone in their collection they don't want or need, great, but I'm not asking for that or expecting it. I tried posting this on DB but it is not working for me (again!) and I thought I'd get more interest here. To get a hold of me you can email me at my username here at yahoo.com.

I hope I didnt violate any rules, again I will NOT accept any money, this is just to help someone out who may need some little earth-tone stones, that happen to be interesting with color changing, and hard/durable being sapphire. Thanks guys!

PS I forgot to take pics of the parcel...If nobody says they want the stones before I get home, Ill come back and post pictures. If multiple people want the stones, maybe I can split them up and mail some to each of you, but only one person gets the cert. LOL I suppose I can make copies for whoever else wants in. LOL, what have I gotten myself into?

Hi everyone...just wanted to let you all know that I did have someone ask for the little stones. I will divide them in two parcels so one other person can get a couple of cts, just let me know. Ill get them out tomorrow.

Re: Certified Natural Color-Change Sapphire Melee...anyone w

I don't want them, but I would like to see pics :)

Re: Certified Natural Color-Change Sapphire Melee...anyone w

They sound like fun.

Re: Certified Natural Color-Change Sapphire Melee...anyone w

Fun??? Yeah, I guess so since they change color... but man are they teeny tiny. Can you imagine the look on my face when I open the cert and see "4.01ct, Natural Color Change Sapphire"?? I was like WHOA!! JACKPOT!!! And then......

Re: Certified Natural Color-Change Sapphire Melee...anyone w

  :((

For those that wanted pics....I used lots of magnification so they look BIG...but, then look at the size of the text on the cert for reference, LOL. One person asked for them, but so far no shipping info...so there's still time if someone wants half, as Im willing to separate them into two 2ct parcels lol

Hi Chrissa,

If you still have these I'm interested.

Thanks

Re: Certified Natural Color-Change Sapphire Melee...anyone w

Hi rparker,
Sorry, I did end up dividing the (26) stones among three people.

That being said, I do also have Ruby Melee, rounds of 2mms. I can't give them I can only sell them...not for a lot, but I bought these I didn't get them for free.

I'm going to create a listing on the PS Preloved Jewels section and if anyone comments there or here I will put them up on ebay. I just don't want to go through the hassle or expense to list them on ebay if nobody wants them. I have a hard enough time on ebay as it is selling some really good stones, because I am not getting 'noticed' over there. And of course DB is down...ugh.

BTW Its Chris, and "A" is the first letter of my last name. I'm a guy so I hate being called "chrissa". lol. Im not mad I'm just letting you all know. :))

Re: Certified Natural Color-Change Sapphire Melee...anyone w

Chrisa,

I had been typing "Chrissa" as well, but I was positive that your first name was "Chris" and the last name started with "Sa". (Honestly!)

I was looking for some stones for halos. I understand that the sapphires are gone, but the rubies are still on sale.

However, I belong to our peculiar group, so I would like to know if there is any chance that your stones are Be-treated or even synthetic? In other words, how do you check the melee? Or you merely trust your vendor because he/she is super-reliable? Or the price of the stones is so low that it does not, really matter?

Re: Certified Natural Color-Change Sapphire Melee...anyone w

Sorry, read your posting and got my answer. Basically, treatment unknown, or they may be synthetic, but you consider the price fair enough, right?

Re: Certified Natural Color-Change Sapphire Melee...anyone w

Chris,
Just out of curiousity, what is the name of the lab that has since closed and has no website?

Re: Certified Natural Color-Change Sapphire Melee...anyone w

I did sell the parcel that I had. I may be able to get some more, if I do I will let you guys know. They were certed back in 99 and have been with the person who has them since that time. They were collected by someone who passed on, and now are in the hands of someone I know who doesn't know anything about stones at all. I based the price on them being natural rubies, with a cert, that may be treated. I do not think BE was around in 1999, but I do believe they were filling rubies, so these may be filled. They may also be heated. I have no idea...but I trust the cert 100% on the fact that they are not synthetic. I had a gemologist look at several of the stones from that lab that were certed and they were natural stones. Those were not the rubies, though, to be fair. But again, as of now, I don't have any more.

Chris,
I am asking again, which lab provided the memo. Labs do not certify anything but offer their opinion. I do not trust just any memos as some labs have better trained and experienced gemologist and also better equipment. These melees are small and not well coloured, so I am not concerned about them but only pointing out this out for gemstones.

A reminder that we don't allow sales or self promotion in the colored stones forum. Please keep all discussion of sales or items for sale in the pre-loved forum or it will be removed.

Chris I'm pretty certain that it was unfortunately.

Diffusion-treated corundum first appeared on the world market in the late 1970s (Crowningshield, 1979).
