Ok after much looking and hunting I finally found my stone. I went to Excel Diamonds www.exceldiamonds.com and Barry over there was so helpful and great to work with. I definitely recommend them if you are in the NYC area or even online. I used all the information here to help make a wise choice THANKS GUYS! I dropped alot in my original color and one down in clarity for cut and size. The faint Fluorescence and and excellent cut make this stone show up a H or high I. It is super firey and is stunning in person. It got a 1b in the AGA DIY Cut Grading system and 2.5 - Very Good in the Holloway Cut Adviser. I will post more pics once I have them. Picking up the stone on Monday what do you guys think did my knowledge from here pay off. Now I just need to find a nice solitaire setting for it under 1k. I spent all my budget on the stone.

Looks good.

Thanks I tried get the the most out of my $7900 1.7ct budget alot of hit an miss when I was looking. I was really happy on the performance and color on this stone no yellow tint. I'm really excited. I picked the stone my fiance is picking the setting he left the hard work to me since he knew I learned alot form this forum and I didn't want to end up with the same dull rocks I see alot of people have. It was alot of fun and this forum is GREAT. I can't wait to see it set!

Congratulations!

I was nervous about the one inclusion on the face but since it is well cut it shows eyeclean and hides the J color. I search all over 47th Diamond District vendors to find my 1.7 perfect stone under 8k. Excel Diamonds was great and Barry there and very professional what a difference from some of the places I went no pressure and so helpful. I can wait to have it on my finger!

Sent my stone to be laser inscribed by GIA for the extra security plus they will update my cert. I think it''s worth the extra $110 for protection. I will post pics once I have before I set it and after.

Quick question thought when I went back and redid the HCA cut adviser and used the % instead of the angles on my stone I scored higher a 1.2! I think I did it wrong the first time.

Light Return: Excellent
Fire: Excellent
Scintillation: Excellent
Spread or diameter for weight:Very Good

Standard, HCA is less accurate with % depth because of the rounding.

This is normal, percentages are less accurate than angles, also bear in mind that the aim is to score below 2 with the HCA, a higher score isn't better than a lower one. All scores are considered equal below 2 pending further evaluation with images and trusted vendor or appraiser advice.

You have a great diamond there, well done!

I see thanks for the info just strange how it can go from 1.2 to 2.5 just from rounding good to know. Either way I''m very happy since the Aset pics came out great and in person it was beautiful. I think I got a good price when all is said and done. Most the stones I saw were over $7900 mark I payed and not as good. Ring shopping is hard work but this forum is fabulous and helped me so much.

Thats what we like to hear, thanks for the positive feedback!

THANKS Lorelei I''m so glad you approve!

It can be a nerve racking thing when you are spending so much on something you don''t know much about. But as I said before if it wasn''t for this forum and all the great info and vendors u guys recommended I prob would of ended up w/ a average stone like all my friends. I was married once and had that and did not want to repeat my mistake my ex made w/ my new future hubby. I soaked up as much as I could and my b/f trusted me and was so impressed w/ all I learned he let me do the picking. He was just the bank lol wired over the $ w/out even seeing it. see below my old dead princess which I sold in the 47th diamond district for $3750 I took the money and ran lol!

Who will be setting the ring? Unique settings is a casting company and so the beauty of the finished product will depend entirely on the skill of the bench person who finishes the setting and sets the stone for you. You can have in insured by Jewelers Mutual. You send them the appraisal of the stone and the estimate of the cost of the setting and they will issue a policy that covers both items during the setting process. Contact them for more details. I don''t know of another company that will do that.
