Chicago area GTG and gem show on Dec. 9th?

Time to make final plans everyone....

Any last takers for the gem show in the Chicago area next weekend (Dec 9).

It''s a 3-4 hour drive for me depending on traffic through Milwaukee and in the Chicago area (and good roads now that it is in winter).

Everyone deserves a great day now and then... and looking forward to seeing all.

Keep those replies coming in! On Friday I''ll take a final count and contact the restaurant, shooting for 11:30 to meet (if that''s OK with everyone). I figure we should pad the time a little in case of traffic, and I''m sure we''ll all want to chat a bit before we get down to the food part of lunch, LOL!

Slight change in plans; is it OK if we meet at 12:00 instead of 11:30? (Of course others can get there earlier but I have a *problem client* who HAS to see two properties one more time on Saturday morning and then write a contract before she flies out. If I didn't already have my eye on a piece of jewelry that I want to buy with her commission I'd tell her to take a hike, LOL!)

PORTIA - Do you want to ride up with me? I can meet you at my gatehouse (Kinzie and Canal) or at the Caribou on Kingsbury or anywhere else that's convenient for you. Just let me know and we'll firm up the details.

Dee*Jay, Catmom, and Blen...how long were you guys there in August? Did it take hours to see everything?

IrishAngel, I think we were there 3-4 hours (?). Toward the end we did skip some things that none of us had any interest in, but for the most part we hit every booth.

(Catmom and Blen, is that right? 3-4 hours? It didn't seem like long at all -- except that part where I suddenly realized my wallet was missing, LOL... [Don't worry gals--and Perry--I had just left it in the car; it wasn't stolen by anyone at the gem show! But that did make for a lonnnnnnng few minutes while my happy hubby ran back to the car to look for it.])

I won''t be able to make it on Saturday. I have a meeting out in the burbs at 10am and it''ll last for at least a couple of hours. Just my luck, the one day they pick.... ARGH!!! Was sooooo looking forward to meeting some fellow PS''ers.

THE METRO GRILL WAS CLOSED THIS WEEK!!!

I just called to confirm our reservations for tomorrow and the restaurant we were going to meet at is GONE. CLOSED. KAPUT. ???!!!???

Here is our alternate plan: There is another restaurant in the hotel called the River Rock Deli. It does not have table service, but I just spoke to the food and beverage manager for the hotel and he assured me that the food is good and we should have no problem getting seating (my impression from our conversation is that they don''t get a lot of restaurant traffic at the hotel on weekends). Regardless, I''ll leave the city as soon as I get done with my client tomorrow and bolt up there to start shoving tables together, LOL.

I will post a sign at the location of what used to be the Metro Grille with my cell # in case anyone can''t find us.
