I recently learnt about Chrysoprase and love the semi-opaque yet still transparent greenish blueness!

I found this pair of earring at $1500. For the type of stone, is this a reasonable price, or should I look for cheaper? I wikied what they're composed of etc but am not grasping the price range yet.

IMHO ('H' because this is not the sort of thing I usually buy), the price includes a huge premium for the name/design. It can't be in the materials or the work - chrysoprase is usually a pretty inexpensive stone. There are some exceptional, highly translucent examples, but the stone in these earrings doesn't look exceptional.

Only you can know what the name/design is worth to you.

Are they a reasonable price? Yes and no. I think they're overpriced for the materials. But you're also paying for a designer brand, and chrysoprase balls or half-drilled beads in this size and quality are not easy to come by. If you were willing to go with round cabs, I think your options would be widened and prices would be lower. I don't know how large the earrings you posted are (maybe 10mm?), but here is an 8mm pair. These are the only chryso ball studs I have seen in good quality, a decent size, and untreated. You can see there is a huge price difference, but they may not be directly comparable, and small differences can greatly affect price. Only buy from reputable dealers, because chalcedony is often dyed to mimic chrysoprase's brilliant greens.

P.S. Here are 10mm round cabs... with the 20% discount, they'd be $330 for the pair. Of course, then you'd have to get them set, which is an added cost and hassle.

Ahhh thank you! the vendor showed up on google when I typed chrysoprase earrings and didn't know it's a famous brand. Appreciate the links :kiss2: they look exactly the same and much cheaper!

I think 8mm is a great size for studs, but the ones you showed do look a little larger (they're also 18k as opposed to 14k, and designer, as we mentioned). Still, for the massive price difference, perhaps you won't mind. Also, be sure to ask for photos of the exact earrings you'd receive (and the highest quality pair she has left). There are always the best and worst beads in a parcel. Good luck with whatever you choose to do!
