Clinical death experiences

I'm being silly.

Reminds me of that joke . . .

As a couple drove past the cemetery the man says to his wife, "You know honey, people are just dying to get into that place."

Watch out.
Here come the That's Not Funny Brigade, saying, "How Dare You! I know someone who died once."

Kenny donning flame suit...again.

Kenny, I love you! You are so right on! ;)

There can be communication after somebody dies physically; I've had it with my dad and my mother, my dear uncle too. So many people tell things they learned that the person didn't know when on earth. That was true of my father, what he told me a few months after he died. I used to think maybe what we call our soul became a part of some huge consciousness & in some way that may be true, but there's so much evidence that we also keep our personality, our selves. Perhaps at least as long as those we knew & loved are still on earth?

I haven't had any clinical death experiences personally but i had a boyfriend die when i was 24 and i read a lot of similar books when i was working throught the grieving process. It helped so much and i do believe that death is not the end but the beginning of something else. I communicated with him a few times in that first year after his death and i have no doubt that there is some sort of existence once we leave our physical bodies.

One of my dearest friends is Taoist. She's white American, but she finds meaning and comfort in Chinese philosophy, so she studies the Tao and does Tai Chi/Qi Gong. There's a lot of wisdom in these old texts.

Thank you, I agree. it's surprising how something that is 3,000 years old is so relevant today.

I am also a Caucasian. I was originally christened Catholic. I "tried on" a variety of religions over the years including a year as a Mormon and a year as a Baptist. I also tried Lutheran, Methodist, unitarian, and non-denominational Christian.

I chose Taoist because, personally, it works for me.

This might sound pretty out there, but it's a thought process I've been toying with recently and trying to figure out an answer to. Energy is neither created nor destroyed. Our emotions, thoughts, feelings, mentality, our "souls" if you will are a form of energy.... they have to do something when we pass.............right??

Energy is never lost, even that which is stored in our bodies at death.
It goes into the insects and bacteria that eat us after death.

The matter that makes up our body holds energy.
I don't think emotions, thoughts, feelings, mentality, our "souls" are energy as defined by physics, which is measurable in units such as joules or calories.
I feel those things are all constructs of a living mind.
Ideas, if you will.

I'd say they are no more subject to the laws of physics (conservation of energy) than world peace.

Another interesting thought process. Personally I'm not completely decided... I feel like there are unexplainable parts of energy we know very little about. We don't even know what electrons look like, so we can't say that we truly fathom every type of energy there is. That's what makes me ponder I guess. To me, the pain in my chest when I cry over someone lost, or over being deeply hurt, it is an energy of it's own, vs. a thought. The fact that animals can pick up on feelings and emotions lends to the idea of those being an energy, vs. a thought. But again, it is something to consider from your perspective as well, thank you for putting it in front of me. :)

I plan to read the Tao Te Ching as well.
