Colored diamonds - trading/selling?

I beg patience - this is a complete newbie question. If one has a white/colorless diamond that needed to be sold, it seems there are large enough markets to do that: consign to vendors, sell privately on ebay or DB, etc.

I'm guessing the same is not true for colored diamonds? Where would one go to sell a currently owned stone? An auction house? But would it have to be a special or spectacular stone to be worthy of the gavel?

Simply curious. I don't have a colored diamond, just wondering what the markets for them are like. From what I can see, only Leibish, DBL and auction houses seem like the place to go to buy them. What about selling them back?

AFAIK, you can sell a fancy colored diamond on every venue that accepts listings for white diamonds.

Fewer people are into FCDs so, as with white diamonds, don't expect to make money or get a fast sale.
Diamonds are not like gold, which has a very small spread between buy and sell price.
Diamonds would have to increase in value a great deal to overcome the difference between your buy and sell price.
That may take a long time, and diamonds have been known to crash in value too.

Unless you hold them for decades and are trading in the rarefied stratosphere of Elizabeth Taylor diamonds should NOT be thought of as an investment.
Buy them because you enjoy them.

You'd have to ask them.

you can always consign with any vendors that take consignments... and there are more sites that sell colored diamonds besides leibish and dbl (the ones you mentioned)... and i don't think leibish takes consignments...

You can try putting it in the for sale section of PS... there are a bunch of FCD people here that might consider a stone of decent provenance heck, provenance be danged, we will look at it and buy it if we like it

JbEG also sells colored diamonds via consignment. I have seen several sell their recently and almost bought one myself.
