colored stone engagement ring idea

I don't have a retail presence so I see customers with an appointment (aka, 1 on 1). I don't mind people just looking at all. It is my chance to impress a customer, share knowledge and, perhaps, get a new client or to be recommended by that person. And, in a retail space, having people in a store makes it more likely that other people will walk in (up to a certain point, I think).

You are going to buy a ring so you are a potential customer. I have no respect for a store that expects someone to walk in and make a major purchase. That is not how people buy things and it is not right to pressure them into doing so.

I showed him my boards and he does indeed have particular preferences. He doesn't like the antique style rings that are "too busy" and he doesn't like the modern rings that look too "futuristic," but it's funny because I am baffled by these descriptions because he often likes examples that to me look busier than ones he doesn't like or less futuristic than ones he does. In short, we need to figure out what we mean by the things we say.

You've made a good start with the boards and sitting down to discuss your likes/dislikes has thrown up a crucial point. I think you hit the nail on the head with the bit above ;)

It's good that you are discussing what you both want and like, and moving on towards a solution. There's nothing worse than a lack of communication and both parties ending up dissatisfied / frustrated with what should be a happy experience or occasion.
