I've got news! I went to the gemologist during my work break to show him the stone. Since it is set, it's a bit more difficult to tell. What he could tell: the stone is natural. The silver dust is indeed silk from rutile. There were the characteristic "needles". There is an inclusion - a little zircon. He let me look at it it under magnification (30x) and I could see it very clearly (just as the needles)! He told me to not be shocked when I see it... of course I'm not. I love, love, love these kind of inclusions. He is almost certain that the stone was not heat-treated. He could not find any indications that it was. He says that the inclusions don't exactly tell the origin, but he would guess Ceylon, maybe Burma. To know it for sure we would have to analyze it, which is very expensive. I won't do that. He said it has a wonderful colour and that I did good . What a work break!
That blue...and natural too? Maybe you will reset it?
How exciting! I personally love her as she is
I love the setting! Someone had one on LoupeTroop that was exaggerated beyond this level of separation between the diamonds. I think it was an atomic era design and the diamond halo looked like little satellites or a Sputnik. It was very cool (and maybe a like poke-y). Anyway, I hope that helps you appreciate the charm of yours. It’s very special. What a find!
Thank you! I might start with a simple rhodium plating, since I don‘t really wear yellow gold.
