Hi folks
After receiving some excellent advice on here on the setting, I've now chosen a design for my FW's e-ring and am looking for the stone.
The setting is an 18K white gold halo design with 48 (0.44ct) H colour, pave-set diamonds on the bezel and shank to fit a diamond of 0.7 to 1.0 ct. Bearing in mind i'm looking for maximum bang for buck, I've gone for an RB stone as this is the most forgiving when it comes to lower colors/clarities.
Budget is extremely tight (compared to most of the bling on here
) so I cannot spend more than $2,000 on the center stone but, really, the lower the price better (provided I can still get a good stone - ie good value not 'cheap').
The one thing I'm not prepared to skimp on is cut, since this can often hide a multitude of sins, but I'm happy to go to a J in color (provided it faces up white) and an SI2 in clarity (as long as it's eye clean to her girlfriends).
Right - preamble over. I've found this stone from a reputable e-tailer that offers 30-day returns and GIA certs. The price is under $1,400 which I think is exceptional but I would value people's opinions. Also on the size - will 0.71 look good in this setting?
I've attached an admitedly ropey fax of the GIA certificate map.
Vital stats are:
Shape: Round
Carat Weight: 0.71
Color: J
Clarity: SI2
Graded By: GIA
Cut Grade: Excellent
Depth: 60.5%
Table: 57%
Girdle: Thin to Slightly Thick
Culet: None
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 5.81 x 5.76 x 3.50
Thanks in advance!
