Hi all,

I've been lurking for a bit while deciding on a potential project. One option I was interested in was an asscher cut eternity band -- I mused about getting an eternity band as an e-ring 10 years ago but my husband liked the idea of going traditional (and bought a lovely rb), so I decided it would be a good 10th anniversary gift to myself :)

I absolutely loved canuk_gal's stunner, so I headed to the jewelry district to see if I could try on a few options and see what worked for me. I found all of the picture threads with dimensions/finger size to be so helpful and figured I would post similar information here if anyone else was on the hunt for an asscher eternity!

There was a 7ctw that I am kicking myself for not trying on (probably because it was so obviously out of my price range, though really, who cares?). Actually, and not surprisingly I can say that there was a significant markup on all of these rings compared to what I've priced online at IDJewelry.

STATS:
All stones were G/H color and VS2 clarity and set in platinum
All rings were a size 6, and I wear a size 5.25 so they were a bit bulky
20 pointers on the 4ctw, unfortunately I forgot to ask for the other two rings (different store - that's why the lighting is different as well)

Aaaaaand to the hand shots:

3 ctw (approx)

4 ctw (approx)

5 ctw (approx)

As an aside, I did try on some emerald cut eternities as well. I loved them all, I really did, though I did feel like you needed a bigger stone to appreciate it -- something really got lost in the 3 ctw for example.

Also, the pictures really don't do these justice. When I look at the 5ctw in this picture it almost seems like a reasonable ring but in person it's like...wowza.

I LOVE asschers and offer this as food for thought: it's great you could see them in person because i understand there is a size below which it is hard to see the beauty of that cut, so that has to be part of what you consider. on the other hand, asschers are deeper stones, and the larger you go, the deeper the band will be. i have a 3 ctw RB eternity and i find it difficult to wear because it cuts into the side fingers - and I am a size 7, which means the RBs are going to be even smaller than the smallest asschers you tried on probably. SO if you are looking for something to wear as an every day ring, think about it - i hardly ever wear mine because it is not comfortable. if you are going to wear it for that occasional extra bling - then i say go for it and get the largest you can afford cuz the cut is so lovely!

Thanks for posting the pics! An asscher eternity is at the top of my wish list. I love canuk-gals band, too!
I wear a 7.5 which would increase the cost I'm sure. Were they comfortable?
I have looked into them and the 3ct stone size was .18. I didn't check into the 4ct size so glad you posted .20.
I know I wouldn't purchase a 5ct.

Is this for a stand-alone ring? If so, I'd go as large as the budget allows. If it is to wear with a ring, I normally don't care for more than about 3mm in width to not overwhelm the e-ring.

Yep, this would be a standalone ring. My e-ring is a .85ct rb with ruby sidestones so even the smallest asscher shown above would wildly overwhelm it.

Good points about the comfortability...I'll be honest, the ring did stick out quite a bit on the sides, though it was a larger ring than I would ever wear so I imagine that would mitigate it a bit. I also imagine that it could be something that you stop "feeling" after your brain gets used to it's presence. Like when you get a cavity filled :)

I have an asscher eternity band. (I was also inspired by canuk_gal) I have a 4.5 size finger and mine has 3.3mm stones (aprx .22 ) and is about 4 cts.
I like it but feel like that cut of the asscher stones is almost a little lost in this size. I will say that it is very comfortable to wear. Mine is in a Uprong setting in white gold. Though I am looking into upgrading upgrading my stone to somewhere in the .30-.35 size. Also I want to have it set in Platinum. Some how even though mine is 4 carats it feel "light". Somehow I feel like 4 carats should have some heft.

Thanks for posting picture of the different weights it gave me a persecutive on how a bigger stones might look.

Just so you keep in mind, asschers do face up smaller then other stones. So, as I had to see and learn, you need to go a littler bigger then you think to get the look you want.

Thanks again
