I look white

Love it! I think your stone looks phenomenal- the other diamond needs a scrub maybe?

They are both beautiful!

No! She cleaned it for the photo shoot!

They both look beautiful but I really thought that your sister’s had some film on it! I always blast mine w steam from my espresso machine . It’s an ACA so you know it’s good!

I like this new setting. Yellow gold looks beautiful on you

Both of these rings are stunning!

This is fun to see. She definitely needs a deep soak on that aca, but still a great comparison. They are beautiful!

I had her clean it. That was part of the prep work for the photo shoot. Maybe bc she’s not a PSer, she doesn’t own an ultrasonic—but she does soak her ring nightly. And I requested she clean it before this photo shot. Not sure what to make of this comment. If I had noticed the ring was dirty I would have asked her to clean it again but in the lighting, her ring looked nothing but beautiful. Maybe it’s the close-up shots creating that effect.

Ty! Yellow gold is out of my comfort zone so I’m a little insecure with it.

I certainly didn’t mean to offend. It’s such a gorgeous ring no matter what. You both are very lucky. Wear them in good health. They are beautiful.

The ACA is definitely dirty - you need to loupe the pavilion and make sure it is super clean. Very hot water ammonia and detergent and toothbrush in behind.

your stone Nala appears to be a FIC, 40.6ish shallowish pavilion smallish table and maybe 35.5 crown slightly steep?
Can you post the cert?

The table reflection indicates a shallower than 40.8 pavilion angle.
GIA's rounding and maybe even scan accuracy.
In all the images the ACA shows a larger table reflection.
In the bottom one here I get a 27% reflection - I don't have a chart here but 30% = 40.75 degrees.
Your diamond will show more fire than the ACA for 2 reasons Nala:
1. it is bigger and bigger counts the most when it comes to fire!
2. Your diamond has proportions that I labelled Firey Ideal Cut a couple of decades ago.

Wow! Thanks for that analysis @Garry H (Cut Nut)!
And now how to tell my sister that she has a filthy diamond when she announced to me that she had just cleaned it for the photo shoot, lol. Not to mention, she soaks it nightly.

Show her with this pic - both stones are facing away from the camera at about the same angle.
The worst parts to see the dirt effect are always in the crown facets.
All yours are singing.
The two areas on the bottom of her diamond are dead as a dodo. The table facing away from camera is the second giveaway for dirt.
I have been banging on about this for decades but people still bang on about Ideal this and really do not know how to look good at diamonds.

I posted the above 17 years ago.
Peter Yantzer introduced the AGS improved cut grading system. He, and everyone else at the dinner agreed the shallow diamond looked best. (But they were not happy when I told them the proportions).

@nala I love your new setting. Did you do a thread on it? The yellow gold is lush with your white diamond

2 lucky sisters with stunning rings! Love the YG on you Nala

Would you mind sharing some pictures of your ring from different angles so we can see more of your new setting?

1. Both rings are gorgeous but I love your yg setting.

2. Why does your stone had an almost floral quality that my brain associates with oecs? is it just the size (bigger stone, bigger facets) or is it an effect of the steepish crown?
