Comparing my Gia to ACA

1. Both rings are gorgeous but I love your yg setting.

2. Why does your stone had an almost floral quality that my brain associates with oecs? is it just the size (bigger stone, bigger facets) or is it an effect of the steepish crown?

Maybe it’s just the angle of the pics? Lol. I’ve never noticed that similarity.

Wow! Thanks for that analysis @Garry H (Cut Nut)!
And now how to tell my sister that she has a filthy diamond when she announced to me that she had just cleaned it for the photo shoot, lol. Not to mention, she soaks it nightly.

@nala ,
Both very nice rocks!
Soaking nightly is a good practice, depending on what kind of solution you are using. Doing that keeps dirt and film from getting too built up. But the main point of soaking is to soften up any film and grease so that it can be steamed off (ideally) or brushed off with a fine brush.

Best practice in my opinion is to regularly soak in a vibrasonic. I recommend a dilute solution of filtered water and household ammonia (which is already very dilute). About 1/3 ammonia, 2/3 water. A vibrasonic is low power compared to an ultrasonic (and much cheaper!) but makes for a good power soak.

A steamer is a good investment because they are much more affordable nowadays (the home units) and can reach all the hiding places that dirt and grunge collect - under prongs in particular or inside the framework of the jewelry.

If using a brush, I recommend getting one at an art supply store that has long, firm but fine bristles. A toothbrush is just to coarse to do a thorough job.

If you like espresso coffee, cappuccino etc get a machine with a milk steamer :cool2:

@nala Is this a reset from your “chubby” setting you recently shared in the solitaires thread? Or an entirely different ring?

Both gorgeous rings! Nala, how do you like the contrast with your E color with the yellow gold setting?

Great info - any experience with an ionic cleaner? (Speed brite)

It’s growing on me, lol.

They both look beautiful but I really thought that your sister’s had some film on it! I always blast mine w steam from my espresso machine . It’s an ACA so you know it’s good!

It’s funny that people noticed that the ACA looks like it had some film on it. My ACA studs pretty much always look that way to me no matter how much I clean them. I’ve never been honestly wowed by them. Highly unpopular opinion on here I know. Maybe I got duds? I just always expected more from super ideal diamonds I guess. I don’t know if I’d buy another one. I’d probably go a different route if I were to buy a premium super ideal again. Highly disappointing.

No experience, but that is a pretty expensive device. The ones I am recommending for "power soaking" are under $50.

Its funny you say that because I thought your LGD studs performed better than your ACAs too when you posted them. Both the originals from JA and the new ones.

Agreed. 100%. I guess I didn’t realize it until I saw them compared with other diamonds. I’m kinda bummed about it. Maybe I should try to use my upgrade policy and see if I can get similar ones for a similar price and maybe I’ll have better luck. Maybe I truly got duds.

They're by no means duds! They're still very beautiful.

We definitely need a dedicated thread for this beautiful ring!! Even if you change your mind - you can just do another post for the new setting, we won’t mind. :)
