Yes, a VISA giftcard with no money loaded on it sounds about right

I would give Visa card with the minimum on it, but that''s just me.

My BMs paid for their clothes, shoes, jewelry and transportation. I only gave them a color and asked that the dress be formal and left everything else to them. I paid for their hair and make-up and we had our rehersal dinner at a local dinner/family dining place that my DH and I love and which we could afford to pay for everyone.

The only thing they paid for otherwise was my MOH paid for drinks for me at a gay strip club we went to. He also kept giving me ones to pass on to the dancers. Otherwise, the pleasure of their company was gift enough.

Okay, so I''m bleeding now. I shouldn''t read bridesmaid horror stories with a cat on my lap because cat+lap+bodyshaper mandate+snorting with laughter=scared my cat (who is apparently spring loaded and just catapulted off me) =bloody leg. Not that this piece of information helps you at all--I just thought I''d share.

As for a wedding gift, I''d get her a nice book...something written by Emily Post.

I absolutely would NOT spend a lot of money on a gift since you''ve already paid for so many extras.
That used to happen to me a lot. My Odin baby loves my lap, but is very skittish and sneezing was a risk to my femoral artery. I now keep a thick towel by my desk so everytime he gives the sad look that means he wants on my lap, he waits until I put the towel down and then jumps up. Might be worth a try

wow, she is a piece of work. when I was the "best (wo)man" in my friend''s wedding, their gift to me was the dress. All I had to pay for was plane tix/accomodations and that was fine because I got to go to Hawaii ;)

I''d ditch the body shaper, professional make-up (F that S-- have your mom do that too-- it just washes off!!), spa day and I''d give a $25 VISA GC and call it a day!

If it makes you feel any better, VISA giftcards are notoriously finicky and can be a giant hassle. Returns are a pain, if you can even do them, the card can be "invalid" for no seemingly no reason at all, paying for a partial balance with a card is a pain in the neck, and just try to get a real human being on the customer service line. The retail workers I know all hate them, because the customer gets mad at them when the card invariably doesn''t work correctly. Perhaps karma will deliver some payback on all those gift cards.

Why not give her the other two body shapers that you aren''t using? Seems like a lovely gift under the circumstances.

I would give her a card and consider this a lesson learned about following your gut instincts :) she''s nutso
