Cookie tyme, I''m so glad you''re getting it reset and that your hubby isn''t upset. I LOVE the yellow gold cathedral setting you posted! You have great taste. Where is that from? How did you find it? Thanks!

I''m so glad you told him and didn''t let this drag out. How nice that he was so understanding.

I love the setting you posted. It will look beautiful with your yg wedding band.

Have fun shopping!

I''m glad you''ve resolved this with your lovely husband.

Although I love the setting he presented to you - I think it is very important that the ring reflects your style and personality. You waited 23 years and it sounds like you really deserve your dream ring...

I wouldn''t let go of the wg setting though, it''s so beautiful and unique. Perfect for a RHR with a blue sapphire? mmmm lovely!

I''m so glad you guys talked about it! I do think it would be a good compromise to keep the ring he designed (I am such a sucker for the symbolism with the 8''s--love that!) but put another stone in it and wear it on your right hand when the mood strikes you.

I love happy resolutions.

I''m glad everything worked out! Now...we need pictures ASAP!

That is good news! Certainly a reminder for guys that if you want to surprise someone, you better know what they want and/or keep an open mind about them wanting to change the ring if it does not work out!

Awww, thank goodness you didnt lose more sleep over this! He just wants you to be happy! You guys will have fun picking out the new setting and I think putting a colored gemstone in the current setting is a fantastic idea! What kind of gemstone are you thinkin about?

GREAT!!!! This should be a mandatory read for any guys out there that are having their fiance''s ring custom made. Clearly, He was able to see the big picture and wants you to be happy. This is probably one of the reasons you''ve been married so long!

I''m so glad you spoke to him! It sounds like the problem is now solved. Please do come back and show us what you end up with for a setting.

I''m really happy for you! Your DH is a great guy!

If you don''t mind me asking, can you tell me where you found the first picture?

I''m really interested in whatever website this came from.

Thanks!

Thanks, everyone. I will be relieved to finally wear my dream ring WITH my wedding band! I think a trip to Philly''s "Diamond Row" on Sansom St would be neat. Or just order this one I posted, but I think the shank is a bit narrow, 2mm. I''m not sure though. I need to email them.

Laila, that YG cathedral is from http://www.ziamond.com/catsol.html It''s a cz site, but it''s the only place I could find an afforable version of what I liked. I''ve seen it other places, only in white gold or plat, but much pricier...

There''s also a setting I adore that is similar to D.Vatche''s Royal Crown, by a gal named Liz C. But she also is a cz person, so I''d have to buy the same size cz in it, and have my jeweler replace it. The problem is, Liz C is in Singapore, and I''d have to get it shipped over and make sure I love it, and if I don''t I lose $$ in shipping it back, not to mention time. Oh well. That''s where I am for now.

DH would like to set a colored stone into the white gold setting. I''d like something "cool," such as a blue or green, or even blue-ish.

*This post was left unfinsihed on 6-23, and now that another day has passed, I feel rather embarrassed by my strong reaction. In retrospect, I think the whole ring thing was a remodelling session of my shot-gun wedding at age almost 18. I was so young and so was dh. We just did as our parents directed. I am glad I got to choose my gown and cake, but that''s about all... Our "honeymoon" was 2 nights in a local hotel, then dh went back to finish his sophomore semester, and I went to live with my Grandma. (my choice, I wanted to spend time with her and get to know her better) Let''s just say, I''ve looked back over my life and seen things I missed, an actual engagement, not to mention a ring, college, a wedding that I planned myself... Still I am thankful for a good husband and the five precious children we have.

This ring was a long time in coming. I''ve been hinting for it for years. Problem was dh got so much info, I think he became overloaded. I don''t blame him at all. It was simply a misunderstanding...

I just can''t wait to see my E stone in yellow gold! Will post pics asap.

Ooooh! Cookie, glad all turned out well.

For the green or blue gemstone (super great idea, by the way), what do you think you will get? What about a tsavorite? There are a lot of very knowledgeable ladies in the colored gem section of the forum.

I am so happy for you and you didn''t go over board because you talked to your DH rationally, which is what you should do. I love what your DH did and I think your solution is perfect.
I think a topaz or aquamarine could be really lovely. If you wanted something really lovely with a little more purple, you might try a tanzanite, which can have a lot of blue in them

Thanks!

I hope you get the ring of your dreams soon

Hey -

I know exactly what you were feeling when you couldn''t sleep because of worrying. I do that too- I know what I like and unless I get it, I can''t take that off my mind. I know it might be more extreme then you were feeling, but how nice that your hubby took your feelings into account. You picked a good one!

I'm glad it worked out!

The setting he got you is really lovely and it's so cool you're going to set a colored stone in it. That way you get what you wanted and also a gorgeous second ring that he chose!

ETA: Congrats on 23 years and 5 kids!

I''m so glad this all worked out and you are going to get the ring of your dreams. I have to admit when I first started reading this thread I was kinda angry at your DH for not taking your feelings into consideration. But as I read through the posts I realized he just "over thought" the whole process. He actually wanted to give you more than you asked for!

Congratulations on 23 years!

Well, it''s settled. DH and I put half down on my dreamring, Li-Ana, last night. I''m so exctied!

The designer is Liz C, in Singapore. She makes 18K gold settings for cz''s, but of course, some people, like me, use them for diamonds. It''s basically an 18K YG swoopy cathedral. Similar to D.Vatche''s Royal Crown. I''ve tried the Royal Crown on before, but the shank, being 4mm, was two big to me, for a 3/4ct or even full ct. My eyes want to see a band that''s half the width of a diamond. The Li-Ana has a 2.5mm band, though Liz offers a 4mm one too. It''s exquisite.

It''ll take 4-8 weeks to complete the YG ring. I want to wear the diamond while I wait, but yesterday I noticed that it''s tapping in the WG setting! I''ve only worn it a few days, and I was very careful. I might take it in to be snugged up. At least I can wear the modern ring for the summer. I know it would mean a lot to DH. He''s already asking me what color stone I want in the WG ring so that he can give it to me for Christmas. Let me just tell you ladies, men CAN change. This is not the same man I knew five years ago. He''s turned into a romantic.

Both rings are very nice. I think since he picked out the first one, it would only be respectful of you to keep it and put another gem on it. I would never want to sell a ring that my dh wouls have picked with his heart

glad things worked out in the end... hey you might get 2 rings instead of 1..lucky girl!!

I''m hoping this pic of the Li-ana comes through. I love this ring!

Oh, wow, it''s just beautiful!!!!!

I am so happy for you, honey! It sounds like everyone will be happy in the end!
