I saw a diamond today, but it was and EGL graded diamond, so not sure how to compare it to a GIA. I know that there are good EGL diamonds, but you have to look a little more closely.

Round Brilliant

Premium Cut

VS2
8.00x7.95x5.05
Width 53%
Dep: 63.3%
Crown 17%
Pav 43%

It looked better than an H color, more like a G and was very clean. It was a pretty diamond, but the HCA score is not very good. Looked good though. Is $13000 a good price for something like this.

Bad, too deep.

EGL is considered softer in color and clarity grading, can be up to 2 grades off if the stone is send to be graded by AGS/GIA, so it is automatically discounted in trade and sold off as a deal.

Depending on the cut and range the color and clarity is off, price online can range from 10.5-16.3k.

Compared to GIA/AGS stone of similar Cs, ranges from 17-21k. If an EGL stone can get the same grade with GIA/AGS and get such a mark increase in price why would a vendor not do it?

Thanks Stone-Cold. This is getting pretty frustrating. You just have so much thrown at you that it is hard to compare apples to apples.
